Welcome to Squirrel Week!

I spent five quick minutes with a fox squirrel last Thursday and came up with some of my favorite squirrel shots ever. The little critter gave me enough material so start off the new year with a week's worth of shots of its antics.

In the opening shot, we see that the squirrel, in its pine tree, is apparently not at all thrilled to see me. In fact, I had thoughts of it jumping on my head. Honestly! It got into some threatening poses, like this one. But it didn't start out this way....

I met Peter Gronquist about a year ago and immediatly connected to this out-of-the-box thinker and artist. Gronquist is well known for his Gucci rocket launchers, chain saws, and other art works that feature high end brand names on weapons of destruction. No stranger to utilyzing taxidermy in his works, where animal's horns have been replaced by gold plated AK-47s, Gronquist continues to juxtapose luxury with nature while bringing up questions about money, culture, and society.

A Shoe bloggers work is never done, here Graciana and I don our jingling 'Ho!' Boots from Jeepers Creepers, Joel was supposed to join us... but he fell asleep on Graci's couch. Men! So I jumped on him...

I've never seen Matilda so excited about apples. Next, we'll have to take her to a sewage treatment plant to get her excited about potty training.

Friends of Mosman Art Gallery, 8 December 2011

The Mosman Art Gallery was awash with the sights and sounds of the sea when the Friends gathered in December 2011 for a Highjinks on the High Seas Christmas celebration.

Smartly attired naval officers, a crusty crew of sailors, and a band of motley pirates were among those who filled the gallery space where they feasted upon festive food, drank a few pints, spun a yarn or two and danced to the seafaring songs performed by the live band, Loose Juice.

During the night, the gallery’s seafaring Friends were treated to a tour of “Ship to Shore: 11th National Australian Society of Marine Artists” presented by the Gallery Guides. ‘Twas certainly a night of swashbuckling fun!

Beau Stanton's work is decorative, surreal, and a bit cryptic upon closer inspection. The Brooklyn native released his latest body of work at Gallery Hijinks in San Francisco entitled "Sanguine Machine", which highlights Stanton's skills as a painter and artist. For the past few years, Beau has honed his artistic talent while playing the role of assistant to pop surrealist Ron English. There is no doubt that there has been a bleed over in ideas and methods, and it is clear Beau has applied what he's learned and evolved it into his own aesthetic. Overall his work is extremely strong, with an eye for the details and strong composition, this is most definetely an artist to keep an eye on.

(Artists for Research, Reconnaissance and General Hijinks) engaged in five days of sculptural and performative piracy on Bumpkin Island. By blurring the line between originator and artist, the pirate-provocateurs explored the benefits of protecting one's creations versus making open-source artwork.

Bumpkin Island Art Encampment 2009 The 2009 Bumpkin Island Art Encampment took place from July 30 to August 3, 2009. For five days, eight artist groups took temporary ownership of plots of land on Bumpkin Island. As "homesteaders," they built a kind of home on the land, lived on the land for five days, and improved the land through site-specific, temporary performance or installation art.

Get used to the trick👒of turning suffering into🐯fun. Falling⛲is not a defeat at all. The rain⛈☔is an example of that because it is happy to fall and makes the whole🌎world🎄happy. Take a look at the sea fairies🐬dolphins that keep the environment🍥happy even though there are a thousand dangers☃⛄at sea. Make a habit of finding pleasure in distress. Let all the miseries turn into fun and place like dolphins and rain and make it a place of joy🌟and🌟happiness. Give these "hijinks" costumes to your loved🍁ones and make fun of all the misery and make them 💮happy.
