ZAANDAM, Vijfhoekpark - when you visit the park nowadays you can really explore. It is the Habitat of the proud Scottish Highlanders. I think it's a lovely park because it's different from the other beautiful parks in Zaandam.
Highland Cattle are a Scottish cattle breed. They have long wavy coats and so cope very well with low temperatures. This male was wading through one of the pools at RSPB Saltholme. They have been introduced as part of the grazing management on the reserve.
Many thanks to all who take the time to view, comment or fav my images.
Eilean Donan Castle, Dornie, Scotland
I've not been out much for photography since our holiday to Scotland, nor have I had the motivation for one reason or another. I was talking with a friend on Saturday night and our conversation drifted onto photography and Flickr. I mentioned I always felt apprehensive about posting a lot of images from the same location (I know there's a lot from the Quays in my stream) especially one after the other when I've nothing new to offer.
I guess you all know the answer, but in truth how many of us upload for our own satisfaction rather than hoping it appeals to the masses. This image being a point in question... the classic view of Eilean Castle - nothing special here, no great light or stunning cloudscape to frame it. But, as it's taken me decades to visit this place, I simply love it... doesn't matter that the conditions weren't right, countless better ones out there... but I enjoyed being there in the moment and isn't that what photography should really be about. I look at this and it brings a happy memory flooding back, it won't win any accolades but who cares.
So this is for me and a friendly voice from Saturday night... only another 55 to go!
Just joking... maybe a couple more!
And here's a song I like even thought the film didn't live up to expectations...
