On the last day of 2019, I took a walk in the German city Koblenz along Fort Asterstein and the beautiful area around it. Next to the interesting fort, I saw a peaceful cemetery, so I paused a while to think of my parents who both sadly passed away too soon many years ago. After that, I decided to go back to my hotel when, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a small plane on a hill in the grass a little further away. I once started writing a film script, but never finished it. The image I saw of the plane wreck placed so obliquely in the grass felt like a scene from a movie. I got excited and tried to get close. When I got near the plane I saw that there was a fence in front of it and that you couldn't get close. I walked all the way around the fence to discover a small hole. The only place I could take a picture was on the ground completely in the mud. Despite the mud I didn't think twice and took a flight 😉 to the ground and made this photo through the small hole in the fence. While taking the photo, I felt goosebumps as if my parents were there. It was a beautiful moment on the last day of the year. When I got back to the great hotel Rheinkrone not far away from the place, I tried to find out online what kind of plane it was and why it was there. Unfortunately I never found the story behind it.

I woke up this morning to a warm streaming sunrise that decided to taunt and tease me behind the clouds over the mountains. I tried several ideas and then decided I'd just go for a walk around my cul-de-sac for inspiration. Happily I noticed some vines on the fence with interesting light and the love found me. You'll find it too, just be open and when you don't expect it that's where it will be.

ODC - hidden in plain sight

366 theme - natural things

Hello all,

This is one of the first photos I took this year.

Normally I would have done my New Year's resolutions in April, May or something. But I've made some photography goals for this year. There is one main theme: Hidden in plain sight. For this theme would like to focus on patterns, textures and reflections. I would also like to get better at making character portraits.

What are your photography goals for this year? Do you have a nice preview of patterns, textures, reflections or portraits? Show it below in the comments

Hallo allemaal,

I found this painted wall purely by chance while shooting some other stuff in the neighboorhood. Thanks to all who viewd, commented or "faved" it.This photo made it to Explore.

In the shadowed embrace of a dimly lit alley, an undocumented family huddles together, their faces etched with fear and uncertainty. The air is thick with tension as they seek refuge, holding onto each other tightly, hoping for a safer tomorrow. This poignant image captures their vulnerability, resilience, and the silent plea for compassion and understanding in a world where safety feels fleeting. Let their story be a reminder of the human impact behind the headlines, and the ongoing struggle for dignity and security.

My attention (and eyes) were so fixed on this lovely little waterfall dropping into the Bristol Avon near the beautiful City of Bath, Somerset that, if he hadn't suddenly moved, I would have missed this fishing Grey Heron completely.

This was what I wanted to enter into the Ohio Foothills challenge, but the pics were poor quality taken through the thick scratched plastic cage. An African Bullfrog who could easily gulp 25 crickets up before you could see it done. However, one cricket wisely stayed on top.

When the building next door was demolished, these two well-preserved wall signs on Hamilton Avenue were revealed. From the style of clothing, I'd say the signs date from the 1920s or early 30s. Honor Bright is for boys' shirts and playsuits--and from the sign, blouses as well. But it's okay, blouses were an acceptable term for boys' clothing. And as the sign says, Honor Bright is for "real boys."

Black Beauty was a line of men's work shirts. The name refers to the 19th century novel about a horse's life in London. Both brands were manufactured by the Reliance Manufacturing Company, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.

There is also small sign for the Square Deal Hardware Company.

Walking down Amato Road one night, I passed this door which opens into Southern California Edison's downtown Palm Springs substation. Any idiot, such as myself, can read and photograph the sign posted by Edison.

Opinion: Edison does a good job with their transmission and distribution. They also have high rates because this level of service is costly. For example, if some 12,000-volt transmission line shorts out, Edison immediately dispatches a trouble car to go see what's happening. Other utilities wait for a bunch of grumpy customers to call in and report their power is out. Monitoring SCADA and having trouble people available to respond is expensive. Their service area goes from Fresno to the San Diego County line. I'm out here in the hinterlands where there are often high winds. Overall, there are few power outages.

I think part of being a participant in democracy is having a literacy in utilities. That includes having a basic understanding of how rate cases are developed and how the California Public Utilities Commission oversees utilities.

Of course I can see the Bunny, but it might be difficult for it's predators to see it if it's very still. A lesson they learn at a very young age! I called this one "Bunny" and it stopped and hid behind the branch, but was watching me with it's big brown eye!

Boba Fett has returned to the Death Star after a successful mission, delivering yet another outlaw to Palpatine. And now the fun begins.

Fett: As you may recall I never actually said the words I promise to return your skateboard intact. I said everything else except those specific words.

STB: Do I even want to hear the next words out of your mouth?

Fett: Probably not but I'll say them anyway. See that on the floor at your feet? Well, it's your you-know-what.

STB: Um, say what?

Fett: What.

STB: Fair warning. It's been a very long week, and I'm in a really bad mood. So unless you want me to go wookiee on you, you might want to start this conversation over again.

Fett: Sorry, do overs are for rebel scum and I don't see any here. As I was saying.. . That's your you-know-what. Or what's left of it.

STB: You do realize your cache of weapons is right behind me. And I know how to use every single one of them?

Fett: True. But hear me out before you blast me to smithereens. The P was good on his word, double credits, so I'm making good on my promise of a trip back to The Moss.

STB: Perfect. I can bury your remains in the desert and no one will ever know.

Fett: Also true. But let’s not get hasty.

STB: What. Now you‘re quoting Treebeard?

Fett: If the shoe fits. But, technically since I never actually really promised anything and you STILL loaned me your board, then the only one at fault here is you.

STB: You're messing with me again. Right?

Fett: Do mynocks have lips?

STB: So I get a free trip to Mos Eisley, and then get blast you later? Sounds like a win win situation for me.

Fett: Dude, sorry to burst your bubble but no blasting allowed. If we both make it back safe and ... safe, I’ll tell you where I hid your skateboard.

STB: So you're going to leave me hanging until then? I have to wait to find out if this really is this my board or not?

It takes some industrial backbone to keep buildings going. I don't know exactly what these valves do, but it's probably important.

In the quiet embrace of Walchensee's ethereal beauty, where mossy whispers and mushroom dreams dance at nature's edge. A symphony of serenity unfolds, as mountains and lake weave tales of time, the heart finds solace in this Bavarian dreamscape.

Another view of a wonderful example of Art Deco/Mayan Revival exuberence.

Ever had that feeling you are not alone?!

While ambling around the Rivertown area of Detroit I found these valves(?) on the side of a building. I liked their slightly skewed look and the way they contrasted with the brick.

There's many videos showing us UFOs on the live feed at the ISS but this one is out there in a league of it's own because there's two of them and they really do look Alien. Plus there's no way that these two UFOs could be a drone with a few lights on it and driven by someones wife while the husband gets an image of it flying erratic with blinking lights. It's an amazing UFO Sightings Footage in every sense of the words. @ufosightingsfootage #ufosightingsfootage #ufosfootage #ufoiss #issufo #issufos #issufosighting #ufosightings #ufosighting #realufo #realufos
