While in Homer I noticed a C-130 performing what appeared to be a VOR non-precision approach. She then circled to land with the prevailing winds, allowing me just enough time to get in a position for this photo-op.
While not the greatest airplane photo ever taken, it's best viewed large. This bird appears specially equipped for search & rescue missions.
Took this looking to Corris Corner from Cad West (Mach Loop, Wales), I liked the way the picture came out, but it would of been nicer if I'd focused on the plane more rather than the bank of grass in front of me (or moved a bit).
Not bad thought for my first attempt
Peregrine Falcon, adult female Hercules, MCC, Chicago, IL
Hercules snacks on a pigeon on top of one of her favorite eating perches. After she snacked, she took the rest of the meal over to the chicks, who still haven't made an appearance. However, there was enough noise from the nest to suggest at least two chicks, if not more.
Six legs, two wings, one body
My first flying beetle model.
This was inspired by Mr Kamiya's Flying Hercules beetle design.
I think that this is equal into being a super complex origami model.
The first I have made.
I guess more will be coming throughout the year.

Guild "Guildwood" Park’s main draw is the Greek Theatre. Eight colossal pillars linked by ornate archways form a grandiose stage. In fact, this architectural attraction was never built for any such purpose – the columns were rescued from the Bank of Canada.
Eastern Hercules Beetle - Dynastes tityus (male, 40-50 mm, up to 60 mm with horns)
Found at a lighted wall in the morning. I had found them dead a few times at this site, but this one was uninjured. When I tried to manipulate it for photography, it backed onto my hand and would not let go. I had to drive home (a couple of miles) with it attached to my hand. Later I was able to coax it onto a stick for photography.

We had a chance to go to 14 Wing today to celebrate the base's 70th Anniversary. We found out about the event at the last minute and jumped at the chance to go. This photo was taken inside a CC130 Hercules Aircraft. This plane is used in various capacities within the forces; everything from Search and Rescue to transporting goods. On this base, the Herc is used mainly for Search and Rescue. It can be transformed into an air ambulance and is frequently used for spotting and rescuing people in trouble, particularly offshore. I've watched parachuters jump from the back of these planes in both day and night. It's a large plane....pretty impressive.
