Hastings Electronics and Radio Club members Phil G3MGQ, Mike M0EDU, Peter G0FUU and Steve 2E0GHX, setting up HERC operations at St. Richard's Catholic College in Bexhill on April 17th, the day prior to the college's ARISS contact with Tim Peake. The afternoon went very well and we were treated extremely well as usual by Dr. Joolz Durkin, the college's lead Science Teacher. A busy day leading into a fantastic one for St. Richard's, and we are proud to be a part of this amazing event. RSGB display stands shown in some images pending a few tweaks tomorrow (18th April 2016), Mike M0EDU's Amateur Radio History display, and the HERC G6HH station kindly organised and implemented by Phil G3MGQ. G6HH here running on a full G5RV. We are also pleased to be working in co-operating with FISTS CW, as an affiliated club and hope to work a mixture of CW and voice on contact day.

i had my rc car out, and Herc loses his mind chasing it, to the point where I'm worried he'll run himself into a heart attack. so i tethered him to my slackline and we had to get out the hose to keep him cool.
RAF Hercs ZH870 & ZH875 over fly Monkton following departure from Prestwick. Royal Navy Hawks & Cobham Falcons for Joint warrior can be seen parked up on the apron. The construction to the right is for the new Coastguard station at Prestwick 15/04/15
One of two C-130J aircraft that've been hanging out at our local airport for the last few days, 606 was in the most accessible place for me to spend a bit of time taking photos.
I had tried taking photos during the day, but with the sun setting just off the left of frame in this photo, I had to choose between a washed-out sky, or a blackened aircraft, unless I wanted to start messing with HDR photography.
As I'm not overly a fan of HDR photography, I chose to wait until later in my shift to take some more photos.

I get a lot of different kinds of air traffic over the house, but a Coast Guard Herc is unusual. I looked up the 1790 serial number, and it turns out it is to commemorate the year of establishment of the USCG.
