In December the days are very short. The sun goes down around 2.30 pm. This Christmas time is cold, but sunny in Helsinki.

These houses are built after the war for the soldiers who came back from the war. Nowadays this area is rather popular because it is green and quiet and not far from the centre of Helsinki.

Merry Christmas!

Sibelius memorial Helsinki, in memory of a great composer.

From my archives .

We arrived in Helsinki and one of the first things I saw after I left our ship was "Bad Bad Boy." This was done by the Finnish artist Tommi Toija in 2014. It was first placed by the Finnair Sky Wheel by the Market Square. It was later moved in front of Helsinki City Hall, but the Council thought it was a political comment. They worked on moving it for almost a year, and it was placed in its current location. We only drove past it and this was the best shot I could get. But, it did greatly amuse me so I wanted some reminder. It still makes me laugh.

In 2014, I was in Helsinki because my daughter competed in the World Junior Championships synchronised swimming.
