I wonder how many people spot this sign by the Bulls Bridge advising them of the direction to Birmingham, a haul of almost 150 miles by canal!

There is no English speaker who can avoid balking at the often bizarre translations in the streets of Asia. This one is from Beijing's hutongs.

We found this sign after spending a good four minutes examining the device, trying to figure out what on earth it was.

It is incredibly easy to get lost in Venice, even for people with a fairly good sense of direction. The key is knowing where you are in relation to major landmarks, such as the Rialto Bridge and the Piazza San Marco. Here some helpful souls provided directions to Piazza San Marco where city officials failed to do so.
