After some helpful Internet advice and some digging through the manual, I reset my camera and tried again.

 

This is my first attempt going 100% manual with my camera. I set everything myself rather than relying on the incredibly handy pre-sets the D7000 comes with.

 

Trying the flash this time. Still not quite right; I see I forgot to make the aperture right. One more try! I'll get it right yet.

The Dewey Decimal System number for James Rebanks' book, The Place of Tides. 598 is the Dewey Decimal System number for "birds". The book is about a woman on an island off the Norwegian coast who cares for wild eider ducks and collects their down.

after quite a stressful week, having to catch up on work due to IASAS, it was so helpful to go to the LIGHT UP NIGHT event afterschool and listen to my friends singing because it felt like a way to relax in the company of my friends

Tagging is all the rage in California right now. For the first time I can actually identify poison oak because of this very thoughtful tag on a plant beside the path at Julia Pfeifer Burns State Park.

This Blackie has been repaying me for all the bird food I supply by cleaning out the gutter on the garage, even throwing out quite large twigs that have fallen off the overhanging ash tree as well as lots of tree seedlings.

The first thing he did when he walked into his classroom was pick up a lego that another little boy had dropped. What a helpful boy I have!

Perhaps the weather gadget should only be used on tropical trips...
