We're all about partying...with a purpose! Maker City on 11th Floor of LA Mart in Downtown LA helped us do just that on Thursday, September 12, from 6-9pm! Non-profits were on site to promote volunteer opportunities and ways to give back through unique hands-on activities. While guests learned more from the participating organizations, a dazzling array of delicious snacks and beverage stations were provided by local businesses to tantalize taste buds and quench thirst.

The cold underbelly of some random rural bridge has a way of pulling me. Schoolhouse Brook was named for the structure where kids got taught nearby, long since turned to a home. I knew an old fisherman here who remembered it well, name of Armón Lewis. He told me once about tramping through wet snow on a day much like this. Sitting by a window draft that the teacher wouldn't close through his classes, he caught pneumonia and could've died if not for the sulfa injections. I'm not so inclined to risk my health, but I can appreciate the cold misery of December rain. It's so flat and silent that I can't help but feel more alive in contrast. Cast against the expanse of cold dullness, looking like the only thing of colour around.

Help! Help! there is a fire!!
Whom do we call?...Fire Fighters....... call 999!
It has been such an incredible time for the kids as they pretended to be fire fighters to help the community they live in.
Also it was a great day for kids to act like teachers. This made them so excited. They were building with pasta and were creative as crazy designers. Making of ice cream was fun for them. Kids used popsicle sticks to make out various shapes and finally they were learning to count using blocks.
Recognition of phonics was awesome,jumping on cover color blocks was so refreshing.At WhiteFields the sky is the limit for the young minds.

Orange County's Yelp Helps Happy Hour took over the new and luxurious Costa Mesa 55 Tavern+Bowl at The Triangle in Costa Mesa this past Wednesday where a $10 suggested donation benefited Make-A-Wish Orange County and the Inland Empire. During the two-hour event, Yelpers not only sampled a variety of cocktails and finger foods, they participated in multiple raffles bringing in over $2,000 for the cause over the course of the evening. The city of Helper is in Carbon County, Utah. Coal mining and coal transport has been the main industry there since the early 1900s. It was named after the helper engines that were added at the depot to assist trains with the steep incline up nearby Soldier Summit.
