This really isn't a Halloween item, but I always keep it with the Halloween decorations and only use it at this time of year. I suppose it's the orange color.
Okay I have no clue how many of you even will look at this photo since I haven't been on or uploaded to Flickr in months and months and like over a year :P But I would really appreciate your help! Several old family treasures. I thought I'd try selective color on the cup which belonged to my Great-grandmother. It sat right in the front of her big glassed-in corner cupboard.
Built in 1912-1913, this Arts and Crafts-style hotel was designed by Fred Loring Seeley for Edwin Wiley Grove, and is known as the Grove Park Inn. Edwin Wiley Grove, whom had made his fortune selling Grove's Chill Tonic, used to help relieve symptoms brought on by malaria that was then endemic to the southern and midwestern United States, manufactured by his company, the Paris Medicine Company, which originated in Paris, Tennessee, before moving its operations to the larger city of St. Louis, Missouri. Grove had a summer house in Asheville, built circa 1897, prior to the construction of the inn, with Fred Loring Seeley, his son-in-law and business partner, having spent extensive time in the area with Grove and his wife, Evelyn Grove Seeley. The land upon which the hotel and nearby Kimberly Avenue neighborhood was later built was purchased by Grove in 1910, acquiring land all the way to the top of Sunset Mountain, as well as several tuberculosis sanatariums that Grove closed and demolished in order to change the reputation of Asheville’s health-focused resorts. Part of the land, atop Sunset Mountain, later became home to Seeley’s Castle, a large, Tudor Revival-style castle-like mansion built similarly of rough stone, and also designed by Seeley, but featuring more medieval appearance. The hotel went through several designs by various professional architects before Grove settled upon a design by Fred Loring Seeley, which featured a simple facade clad in rough granite stones, with a shingled cotswold cottage-style roof with dormers and curved edges, casement windows, and an all-concrete interior structure. The interior of the building was outfitted with Arts and Crafts furnishings and finishes designed and built by Roycrofters, a firm based in East Aurora, New York, and was opened in a ceremony with William Jennings Bryan as the keynote speaker. The hotel featured a large dining room in the northwest wing, with a tile floor and simple plaster walls, which sat next to the hotel’s original service wing, which housed the kitchen, laundry, and other service areas, a large Great Hall, serving as a lobby and lounge, in the center wing, with stone columns and massive stone fireplaces, a plaster ceiling, and a tile floor, and guest rooms on the upper floors, with a large atrium, known as the Palm Court, directly above the Great Hall, and four stories in height, crowned with a large skylight. The hotel was marketed as a health-conscious retreat for wealthy visitors. The hotel has hosted former United States Presidents William Howard Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Calvin Coolidge, Herbert Hoover, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard M. Nixon, George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama in its over century-long history. The hotel was utilized during World War II to house diplomats from the Axis Powers, and later by the US Navy as a rest and rehabilitation center for returning sailors, and in 1944-45, as a US Army Redistribution Station, where soldiers rested before being assigned duties in other parts of the army. Following World War II, contingency plans in the event of a nuclear attack on the United States involved moving the US Supreme Court to the Hotel, as Asheville sat far inland in the midst of the Blue Ridge Mountains, a far more defensible location than many major cities, and had very little strategic value compared to most cities of its size. In 1955, the hotel was purchased by Sammons Enterprises, owned by Charles Sammons, and underwent a modernization, seeing the stone columns in the lobby stripped and clad in aqua-colored vinyl wallpaper, the addition of a pool to the southeast terrace, a large two-story concrete motel structure that sat southeast of the hotel along the hillside, and later, the addition of a wing to the southwest, which appears to have only lasted about a decade and a half before being demolished. In 1976, the Sammons family purchased the adjacent Asheville Country Club and Golf Course, before embarking on a major renovation and expansion of the hotel between 1982 and 1988, with the addition of the massive Vanderbilt Wing and Sammons Wing on the south facade of the building, obscuring the original service wing, northwest wing, and heavily altering the hotel’s appearance with their white EIFS-clad facades, postmodern rooflines based on the original hotel, bands of horizontal and vertical black-tinted glass curtain walls, and minimal usage of rough stone. The Sammons Wing contains conference spaces, a parking garage, and service areas for the hotel, with guest rooms along the southern and western edges of the building, with the Vanderbilt Wing containing hotel rooms along the southern and eastern edges of the building, wrapping around a central parking garage, and also containing a large multi-story atrium and restaurants. The original wing of the hotel was restored as part of this project, with the columns in the lobby being clad in oak surrounds, the stonework and roof being repaired, the palm court being brought back to its original appearance, and furnishings from the period of significance for the hotel being re-introduced to the interior. Around the turn of the millennium, the grounds in front of the historic inn and between the two modern wings was re-landscaped with waterfalls, terraces, and gardens, with a new Spa building being constructed below the hotel, partially underground, between the two wings, with the two previous swimming pools on the hotel grounds being closed at this time. In 2012, the hotel was purchased by KSL Resorts for $120 million, whom subsequently sold it to Omni Hotels in 2013, with the hotel being rebranded as The Omni Grove Park Inn. The hotel was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973, though this would not have been possible following the massive alterations the building underwent in the 1980s, as the renovations have significantly and irreversibly altered the historic hotel, and have removed several character-defining features, though this is understandable in that it was done to keep the hotel economically viable in the modern age of larger resorts and economies of scale, which made the hotel in its previous form no longer economically viable.
Chiltern Railways 168 113 runs through Bordesley station with 1H43 14.54 Birmingham Moor Street to London Marylebone. The station only sees one train a week, in one direction, so the help point probably doesn't see much use.

March 16: In an effort to minimize my current funk, I have been trying to treat myself better. My body, anyway. Since I have some control over that. Healthy breakfast, vitamins, no caffeine, no alcohol, exercise, meditation, and a midmorning protein smoothie. I'm irregularly consistent on these items. Just now my stomach was rumbling, and I figured it was smoothie time. I threw in some blueberries to give it that delicate shade of violet. It was VERY tasty, let me tell you. And now I'm moving on to something warm: good mood tea! I'm gonna lick these blues yet : )

Herb Ritts (1952-2002) was an American photographer and director known for his photographs of actors, models, and other celebrities throughout the 1980s and 1990s. His work concentrated on black and white photography and portraits, often in the style of classical Greek sculpture, which emphasized the human shape.
Herbert Ritts Jr. was born in 1952 in Brentwood, Los Angeles. His father, Herb Ritts Sr. (née Rittigstein), was a furniture designer, and his mother, Shirley Ritts (née Roos), was an interior designer. Together, their furniture business helped to popularise rattan furniture in the 1950s and 1960s. Raised in an affluent Jewish family, he and his three younger siblings lived next door to actor Steve McQueen, whom he considered to be "like a second father". At his bar mitzvah, his father gifted him with a Kodak Brownie camera. He attended Palisades High School and moved to upstate New York in 1972 to study at Bard College, where he received a degree in economics with a minor in art history. Upon graduation in 1974 or 1975 (sources differ), he moved back to California to work as a sales representative in the family business, Ritts Co. Herb bought his first camera for a vacation in 1976, a 35mm Miranda DX-3. In 1978, while living in Los Angeles, he became interested in photography when he and buddy Richard Gere went for a ride in the California desert. A tire blew somewhere near San Bernardino. To kill time while in a local garage getting the car fixed, Ritts started shooting Gere with his camera. In his white tank top, with long hair and cigarette dangling, Gere could have been a mechanic. A few months later, with three film roles quickly making him famous, Gere’s publicist asked for the pictures. The garage photos appeared in several magazines throughout Europe and the U.S., including Mademoiselle, Vogue and Esquire, which ran them under the headline 'The Beefcake Boys'. Ritts, then 27, was suddenly a published portrait photographer. His first assignment was for Italian Harper's Bazaar. Ritts enlisted his roommate, a successful model named Matt Collins, for the shoot. The pair spent two days in the diffuse natural light beneath the Santa Monica Pier photographing the clothes, and the pictures were published. Collins also introduced Ritts to photographer Bruce Weber. Weber helped Ritts with contacts at fashion magazines and became Ritts’ mentor. In 1981, he photographed Brooke Shields for a cover of Elle, and he photographed Olivia Newton-John for her 'Physical' album. Five years later, he replicated that cover pose with Madonna for her release, 'True Blue' (1986). That year, he photographed Tina Turner for the album 'Break Every Rule'. Bill Sharpsteen in Los Angeles Times: "His mostly black-and-white portraits of the glorified among us are shot with a facile eye for simplicity and style. They often are deceptively casual, sometimes ironic, stripped bare of backgrounds and occasionally clothes. They look like lucky shots of our friends on a good day, without the outlandish staging of David LaChapelle or the edginess of Annie Leibovitz. Ritts instead turns the gods and goddesses of the moment into the icons next door".
During the 1980s and 1990s, Herb Ritts photographed celebrities in various locales throughout California. He also took fashion and nude photographs of models Naomi Campbell, Stephanie Seymour, Tatjana Patitz, Christy Turlington, and Cindy Crawford. Ritts' work with them ushered in the 1990s era of the supermodel. For Per Lui magazine, he made a spread called 'The Boys of the Body Shop' (1985). Ritts was assigned to photograph men’s raincoats but instead took his models to a gas station at Highland and Willoughby. He dressed them in vintage jeans, overalls and a few chains rented from Western Costumes. The best-known result of this slightly homoerotic tableau was 'Fred With Tires', featuring model Fred Harding holding two Winston tires in his muscular arms. Ritts also worked for Interview, Esquire, Mademoiselle, Glamour, GQ, Newsweek, Harper's Bazaar, Rolling Stone, Time, Vogue, Allure, Vanity Fair, Details, and Elle. He made several classic photographs: Julia Roberts in her boyfriend’s skivvies, Madonna clutching her crotch, a cross-dressing Cindy Crawford, a paralysed Christopher Reeve and a post-brain surgery Elizabeth Taylor. He persuaded Madonna to pose with Minnie Mouse ears, and he immortalised Jim Carrey with a mermaid's tail. Ben Sharpsteen: "Ritts also has created remarkable portraits of Ronald Reagan, Tom Cruise, Stephen Hawking, the Dalai Lama and Monica Lewinsky at the height of her fame. They’re lasting, memorable images, and yet some have derided them as mere celebrity posters with no deeper artistic value." Ritts had an exclusive contract with publisher Conde Nast said to be worth about $1 million a year. As a fashion photographer, he worked for Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, Chanel, Revlon and Giorgio Armani, earning some $40,000 a day plus another $40,000 or so for usage rights. Film studios such as Paramount and Warner Bros. hired him for movie advertising. Ritts took publicity portraits for the films Batman (Tim Burton, 1989), Batman Forever (Joel Schumacher, 1995), and Batman & Robin (Joel Schumacher, 1997), which appeared on magazine covers and merchandise. He published books on photography for various fashion designers. From 1996 to 1997, Ritts' work was displayed at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, attracting more than 250,000 people to the exhibit. In 2003, a solo exhibition was held at the Daimaru Museum in Kyoto, Japan. Herb Ritts was openly gay. He was in a relationship with entertainment lawyer Erik Hyman from 1996 until he died in 2002. His parents were accepting and supportive of his sexuality. Ritts was HIV-positive. He was first diagnosed in 1989 and used alternative herbal treatments to fight his condition. He never publicly disclosed his diagnosis. In 2002, Ritts died in Los Angeles from pneumonia at the age of 50. Ritts was HIV-positive, but this particular pneumonia was not PCP (pneumocystis pneumonia), a common opportunistic infection of AIDS, but his immune system was compromised.

We visited the primary school in nearby Colimilla- one teacher covers through 6th grade. We did show-n-tell with the microscope and helped with English lessons- but mostly learned from these children that kids are the same everywhere: FUN!
The nest where this owlet were located was destroyed in a wildfire. Two owlets where rescue and are currently growing up under The Costa Rican Raptor Foundation supervision. They will be released to the wild when they reach adulthood.
As you may know, lots of resources and money goes into releasing these owls to the wild.
The Costa Rican Raptor Foundation (A non profit organization) is in charge of this project and its doing everything it can to release this owls succesfully.

Kyros is a friend of mine and we were together today for a trip to Soquel to pick up some wine when the mission came in. I quickly enlisted his assistance with holding the props for the challenge.

影片中的小白狗倒在地上，起初看來一動也不動，同伴花狗見到有人便上前查看，確定沒有危險又跑回去照顧同伴。虛弱的白狗忽然動了一下，雖然很吃力，但仍努力地撐起身體，靜靜地靠在好友身邊。

This is a photograph from the first running of the Trim AC Bewley's 10 Mile Road Race which was held on Sunday 1st February 2015 at 12:00 in Trim, Co. Meath, Ireland. This race also incorporated the 2015 Meath 10 Mile Road Championships. For the first staging of this event this was an incredible success with almost 800 runners, joggers and walkers talking to the start line. The weather was perfect for running despite the bitter cold temperatures with air temperature of 4C recorded at the start. Some beautiful Spring sunshine helped brighten the day and the roads were clear and dry for racing.

The race started on the Trim Athboy Road (the R154) and headed towards the town before making a left turn onto the Trim Dunderry road. The one mile mark comes just after a Y-junction which the race joins back to before the final 600 meters to the finish. Heading north to Dunderry the route takes a left in the middle of the village and heads west for 2 miles on the Dunderry Athboy road. At the next major junction the race takes another left turning south towards Trim town again. One of the only significant hills/drags of the course happens at around the 6.5 mile marker. Miles 7 - 9 are ran on winding roads with nice hedgerows and shelter from any breeze. During these miles you will begin to see the spire of Trim church in the distance. At the Y-Junction from mile one you have 600 meters to go with a final right turn into the industrial estate and the finish line.
The success of today's race is not an accident. Trim AC, and their army of volunteers and help from other Meath athletic clubs, put in huge work to make this race a success.
Today's race adds significantly to Trim AC's reputation for top quality organisation of race events. The 10 mile road race today follows on from the Braveheart 5KM Trail Race which is held annually in June around the beautiful and historical fields of Porchfields and Trim Castle. Today's race could be the begining of one of the region's largest and most popular 10 mile road races.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. The Common Krait (Bungarus caeruleus) is a type of krait that is found in the jungles of the Indian sub-continent. This snake is highly venomous, and is one of the "big four" snakes in India.

But Janja sneered back. “Help you? Help YOU?” Janja leaned over the side of the cliff and flashed a heartless smile. “Why would I want to help you, Kion? You’re right where I always wanted ya to be. How’s it feel being the one in trouble this time?” he asked, laughing happily.
Suddenly, the rocks gave away. Kion’s feet slipped out into space. Only his forepaws kept him from tumbling after. “Janja, please! Whatever you want, this can wait!”
“Whatever I…?” A very different kind of smile spread across Janja’s face. This had not occurred to him. “I mean, yeah. Alright, Kion. If you want my help, first you’re gonna have to make me a few promises…”

With the help of CARE staff, the villagers have developed a map of their village which includes a threat assessment and where to find shelter in case of cyclones or tsunamis.
