Hello 2017 - A new day, a new life and we make our path in life.

Been about a month since last I put up a pic. Figured it was time to at least introduce the new year. Hello there! :-)

Bit of a flap this one, made more difficult by parking enforcement officers handing out tickets. Thanks to Andrew who drove and stayed with the car. The 802 was approaching as I ran onto the platform, so a hurried shot.

I'm not having the easiest of times at the moment so will be on and off Flickr over the next week or so. I'll do my best to catch up with comments today but I apologise if they're brief and if I don't have time to look at all your recent uploads. Hope you all have a lovely day and here's a cute little duckling to start the week with!

Welcome to the beginning of our Harvest, backyard style :-D

Kids of all ages and all ye critters, let the celebrations begin!

As we waited for our friends at Manly Wharf we saw this little fella curled up in the tree.

The common brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula, from the Greek for "furry tailed" and the Latin for "little fox", previously in the genus Phalangista) is a nocturnal, semiarboreal marsupial of the family Phalangeridae, native to Australia and invasive in New Zealand, and the second-largest of the possums.

Like most possums, the common brushtail possum is nocturnal. It is mainly a folivore, but has been known to eat small mammals such as rats. In most Australian habitats, eucalyptus leaves are a significant part of the diet, but rarely the sole item eaten. Its tail is prehensile and naked on its lower underside. The four colour variations are silver-grey, brown, black, and gold.

It is the Australian marsupial most often seen by city dwellers, as it is one of few that thrive in cities and a wide range of natural and human-modified environments. Around human habitations, common brushtails are inventive and determined foragers with a liking for fruit trees, vegetable gardens, and kitchen raids. Its once vast distribution has been greatly affected by drought, epizootic disease and intrusion of invasive mammals into its habitat.

Dame Edna Everage, often known simply as Dame Edna, is a character created and performed by late Australian comedian Barry Humphries, known for her lilac-coloured ("wisteria hue") hair and cat eye glasses ("face furniture"); her favourite flower, the gladiolus ("gladdies"); and her boisterous greeting "Hello, Possums!"

Hello. Guess who is back for at least the winter?

Every now and then, I go back to the Celtfest event of last summer.

This is Nicolas Boulerice (hurdygurdy) and Olivier Demers (fiddle) of Le Vent du Nord on the night stage.

It was a very fine night, indeed.

A little Chestnut-backed Chickadee popping by to say "Hello"!

Love how tiny yet cheeky and brave these cute little birds are.

This sulphur crested cockatoo was looking down at me as he was flying pass, you can see the sun reflecting through his wings, the sky was hazy all day due to back burning there was a lot of smoke hanging around all day.

It was a pretty impressive half day run to the valley. I left home at 2:37 am and reached the place at 6:39. Sunrise was at 7:18, so I drove around looking for a spot to start my day.

In the first run, I didn't see anything other than few ravens. It was 10 F and everyone was still asleep. The day was mostly cloudy with sun peering through. The first action I saw was a Raven eating a dead bird and a Rough-legged waiting to get its share, but to no avail. As with the case of RLHs, you need extreme care and a bit of luck to get close. This one was just gone the moment I stopped my car. Yes, you don't even need to open your windows.

From there, everyone started showing up one by one. By late noon, I saw 11 or so RLHs, 3 RTHs, 1 FgH, 1 Prairie falcon, 2 bald eagles, 2 golden eagles, 4 American kestrels, 3 coyotes hunting in the snowy field, and many Horned Larks, ravens, and etc. I saw real NatGeo like action with Bald eagle and Golden eagle feeding on a dead Coyote.

When I had the front row seat for all the actions, it still happened relatively far from my camera. I got few keepers and few document shots to keep it in the memory.

Usually sit on this bench in the morning with a wake up coffee but today a friend popped up just to say hello !, mellow sunday ;-))

Scruffy and alone- the call turned out to be ok.
