James Heller Obituary

James David "Jim" Heller, age 74, of Decatur, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, July 17th, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center. Born on February 14, 1951, to the late David & Annebelle (Doan) Heller in Decatur, Jim lived a life filled with kindness, humor, generosity, and service.

 

Jim grew up in Decatur. Graduating from Bellmont High School Class of 1969, he then graduated from United Electronics Institute Class of 1971. After graduating, Jim started a family by marrying Cindy Majorki in 1976 and having their only child, Joe, born in 1981. Jim built a career as a Communication Technician, where he was respected for his dedication, professionalism, and positive attitude. With 30 years of service, he retired from CenturyLink. Beyond his professional life, Jim was passionate about people, politics, and serving others. Jim was a member of the New Beginning Faith Center and very active in his community.

 

During his retirement, he enjoyed being on his porch swing talking to fellow neighbors and meeting friends at local restaurants to catch up. Jim was very social and would chat with anyone who crossed his path. His love of country was matched with his love of making people laugh with jokes and his witty sense of humor. Jim was a very caring man and would do anything to help someone, expecting nothing in return as long as they were happy.

 

Known for his warm smile and generous spirit, Jim touched the lives of many. He cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. His legacy lives on through his impact to those who met him.

 

Jim is survived by his only son, Joseph "Joe" "Dude" Heller, his daughter-in-law, Sarah Heller; and his pride and joy, his 4 grandchildren Chloe, Henry, Isaiah, Noah all of Anderson, Indiana. Also survived by his mother-in-law, Nancy Majoki of Decatur, Indiana. His caregiving nephew and niece, Dan & Shelly Archbold. His sister Janelle (Lyle) Archbold of Canada and many nieces and nephews.

 

He is predeceased by his wife and best friend, Cindy Heller; parents David & Annebelle Heller and father-in-law Luke Majorki.

 

Friends and family are invited to gather on August 10th at Decatur Church of Christ, 700 E Monroe St, Decatur, Indiana, for a celebration of life for Jim from 2-6 pm

 

Jim will be deeply missed by many but forever remembered in our hearts.
