101 INSTAGRAMS through Kazakhstan

This exhibition was held to raise funds in support of mental health illnesses, and all of the images for sale - www.etsy.com/ca/shop/INSTAGRAMMATIKA -

are from a series of photographs that were part of David Laws' (the photographer) exhibition - "101 INSTAGRAMS through Kazakhstan" held on September 23, 2014.

All of the photographs were taken over a 3-year period from 2012 to 2014 and posted on Instagram, while the Photographer was visiting and living with his wife, herself an artist and citizen of Kazakhstan.

The images were captured using either an iPhone 4 or a simple Point & Shoot camera and posted on Instagram. David is a fan of Instagram and the power of simple tools in the hands of everyone around the world for the expression of 'the moment', art and all that brings us together as a community.

Part of the proceeds of this sale will be donated to a Canadian charitable organization working on issues related to Mental Health illnesses. A Canadian Tax Receipt for each donation will be made out, and sent, to the Buyer of each print.

Prints were made on 11"x17" or 13"x19" archival fine art paper - either MOAB or Hahnemuhle paper, using an 8 colour archival ink process. Both paper and inks are rated to last at a minimum over 90+ years.

The "Lock Up The Year" Royal Canal Trail Marathon was held on the banks of the Royal Canal from Moyvalley, Co. Kildare to Leixlip, Co. Kildare on Monday 31st December 2012 at 09:00. The race started close to Furey's Pub at Moyvalley and proceeded westwards to Blackshade bridge where the race turned around and then the route was direct to Leixlip. The running route followed the Royal Canal Way.

This was a wonderful event and it was the inspiration of some runners from the Le Cheile Running Club in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland. The marathon was supported by the Marathon Club of Ireland.

This Flickr set shows a set of photographs taken at several points along the route (1) at Furey's Moyvalley, (2) at Cloncurry Bridge (outside of Enfield), and (3) at Ferran's Lock near Kilcock.

The Le Cheile 'Leixlip 5KM' Road Race, Jog, and Fun Run was held in Leixlip, Co. Kildare, Ireland on Saturday May 4th 2013 at 11:00. This was the biggest ever attendance at the race which finished the last 700 meters on the almost completed tartan track belonging to Le Cheile AC at the Leixlip Amenities center. This was a great race with a great atmosphere. The weather was reasonably good (except for a strong head wind). Good race times were reported by many participants. Congratulations to Tony Brennan and all of Le Cheile AC for their huge volunteer work that goes into making this race the growing success that it is.

The chip timing was provided by Red Tag Timing and the results should be available here [www.redtagtiming.com/results/LeCheile5km_2013.xls]

Overall Race Summary

Participants: Approximately 400 people took part in both events with runners, joggers, walkers, and families involved.

Weather: This was a wonderfully bright day with a strong headwind at the 1st and final KM of the race.

Course: The race starts on the road outside the amenities center. There is a signifcant climb up the motorway overpass at 1KM. The stretch from here to 4KM is reasonably flat. There is a final

long drag up to Louisia Bridge and the race finishes with almost 700M on the new athletics track built by the club.

Refreshments: The refreshments after the Le Cheile 5KM have now gained legendary status. Outstanding.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?

As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:

►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera

►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set

►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone

►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!

You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.

Held from June 30 to July 11 2008 at IRRI, this training course provided participants with an understanding of the basics of rice production. The course included field visits to the main rice production regions in the Philippines. Training also included creating familiarity with the germplasm collection amd other science and rice farming resources at IRRI, an appreciation of the research to production model at IRRI and its developing partners, hands-on skills relating to all aspects of production and post-harvest, an understanding of international collaborations, and a plan and personal contacts for the participants to use on their return to their homes.

There were all these little, mini oak leaves laying on these large green leaves below. It was so sweet - like these green plants had been grown to catch and hold the little oak leaves. I loved it. I feel held - and so loved in my life I could totally relate to that vulnerable little oak leaf. (maybe not that old and dead, though! ha!)

I attended the 52nd Wrangler National Finals Rodeo, held December 2 to 11, 2010 at the Thomas and Mack in Las Vegas.

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is the championship event for the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s rodeo year.

The 2010 Wrangler NFR Saddle Bronc Riders were 15-Bradley Harter, 22-Wade Sundell, 24-Cody Wright, 28-Taos Muncy, 50-Heith DeMoss, 53-Jesse Kruse, 54-Cort Scheer, 59-Shaun Stroh, 65-Rod Hay (withdrew due to injuries) replaced by 120-Jesse Wright, 68-Jeff Willert, 81-JJ Elshere, 100-Cody DeMoss, 103-Scott Miller, 107-Dustin Flundra, 111-Sam Speadborough.

Saddle Bronc Riding is a roughstock event where the contestant's score is equally dependent upon his performance and the horse's performance. The cowboy will attempt to ride his horse for eight seconds by hanging on to a thick rein attached to his horse's halter and by staying securely seated in his saddle

The cowboy must ‘mark his horse out,’ or have both his spurs touching the horse’s shoulders until the horse’s feet touch the ground after horse’s first move out of the chute. Failure to do this will result in a disqualification. If the cowboy touches the horse or himself, with his free hand he is disqualified.

The cowboy is judged on how he synchronized his moves are with the movement of the horse, and how much his toes stay turned out during the ride as he spurs. The cowboy strives for a fluid ride and a ride that is smooth and rhythmic. The horse is scored on how well he bucks.

Saddle bronc riding is an event that requires style, grace, and impeccable timing. Saddle bronc riding began on ranches of the Old West, when cowboys had the job of training horses for riding and working cattle.

I would like to the Thomas and Mack, the PRCA (Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association), the Cowboys and Cowgirls, the stock contractors, and the fans for their support of rodeo.

Come join me for ten days of rides, the wrecks, and the unforgettable moments of the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Let’s Ride!!

The 5th and final round of the Mullingar Road League 2012 was held on 30th May 2012 at 8PM on a wonderful warm early Summer's evening at Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, Ireland. There was a huge attendance at the race. This was race number 5 in the series and brought the curtain coming down on the most successful race series to date. The success of the league of races is due in no small part to the huge effort put in by a large body of volunteers from Mullingar Harriers AC, Westmeath Sports, Civil Defence, etc. The evening ended with a lovely after race get-together in the Visitor Center at Belevedere where the prize giving for the League was held. Tonight showed everything that was good about local, club-based athletics in Ireland. The Road League has grown from strength to strength from humble beginings. Such is the success of the Road League that there is talk of having to cap numbers to 1000 participants.

What is the Mullingar Road League

The Mullingar Harriers athletic club organise this league of races every May for the promotion of participation in sport and physical activity and to honour the memory of Pat Finnerty, a former Chairman of the Harriers who gave enormous service to Mullingar Harriers and athletics over many years. The Road League caters for runners, joggers and walkers of all ages and abilities.

The Road League is run on traffic free roads and trails in Belvedere House and Gardens and Park just outside Mullingar on the Tullamore Road. Belvedere House is situated in 160 acres of lakeside parkland on the shores of Lough Ennell.

This is a collection of photographs taken by Peter Mooney and family.
