The McDonnell Phantom II was a highly versatile and very successful fighter/bomber. Designed in the 1950s, the Phantom II was used for several decades by a number of countries' air forces, and is still in use by some. The glass plate seen inside the cockpit is the heads-up display that allowed the pilot to see selected information without turning his gaze downward.
This particular plane was delivered to the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served in the Vietnam War. It was retired from service in 1988.

Boy was last week an intense one! We've got another jam packed few weeks ahead but I just wanted to take the time to give you all a headsup of what is to come and what we're working on. I know that not everyone will have the time to give this a read but for those of you who do, its going to be long. Snacks and a nice beverage are advised.

So much hard work has gone into our last preorder and while we can see a big improvement, a lot of the changes are ones that can't be seen. We've actually changed a lot about the way we're making wigs (or the layers underneath specifically) which may go un-noticed but we've worked really hard to improve quality. Wigs are fuller than they have ever been and changes have been made to styles that we weren't 100% happy with. We've done a lot of work on the layering of SD boy styles and sweepy side fringes and pixie cuts are back on the menu.
During the Summer event, we'll take the opportunity to invent new styles, perfect older ones and give everything a bit of a re-design. We've already started ironing out the things we aren't happy with and I'm sure that this event is going to see some of our best work yet; with glittery parts, space buns, pigtails and hybrid fibre wigs on the horizon, we're itching to get started and share some of our ideas with you! Not only will be we have wigs but also Flower Crowns and we'll be testing the waters with our prepared fibres for anyone who wants to make their own soy wigs!
As previously stated, we will be making the tiny wigs alongside this Summer event, so while we won't be posting as many wigs per day as we normally do, they are going to be the best wigs we can design; more creative and a bigger assortment of styles and sizes than we've ever done and since the wigs have gone through so many positive transformations in recent weeks, we're confident that these will be the highest quality we've ever produced too. The Sale will only have wigs posted Monday-Friday so we allow ourselves adequate time for posting, fibre prep and our tiny preorder.
The new "Standley" packaging will also start during the sale and while we can't make Standley for every design, we hope that everyone likes the new packaging. We'd really appreciate the feedback!

Present Happenings
Our late shipment last week was delayed due to a bit of a nightmare dyspraxia flare up (which thankfully managed to get under control!) but Alex will be shipping today and tomorrow instead. So sorry that we couldn't get them out before the weekend.
Some of you may notice wigs arriving with little circle stickers on the inside. These are to help you align the ear positioning (our right, doll's left)
We managed to get all the extra orders that were placed outside the ordering period worked on (except for 2 which are schedule for today!) so all commissions are almost complete. As stated previously, there are a few things that will be worked on this week before the Summer Event begins on Friday so replies may be a little slow at this time while we get all loose ends tied up.
A lot of emails with final photos have been sent out with no replies. We'd really appreciate it if you could confirm receipt of them.

One thing that is guaranteed in these troubled times is that L97 will be cans , roaring through Attleborough South Junction and past the Headsup HQ 86622 leads Classmate 608 on a well loaded 4L97 Trafford Park to Felixstowe FLT
I'm afraid I can't really tell which end is up or down, I think this might be a head shot, but the verdict is still out on that one! :)

HOWEVER, the large picture in the middle of the collage is a Monarch that landed in my yard. Yes, I can finally say that I caught a butterfly on camera in the wild.....only took 2 years!! haha.

20142 'Sir John Betjeman' and 20189 are seen approaching Cloddymore Footbridge, Cheltenham with 6Z24 1222 from Pengam to Kings Norton. The consist is two IWA's 8027970176/184. These locos and IWA's had been used in the transfer of Class 398005 from Old Dalby to S. Wales on Friday night. A nice surprise to see this move double-headed as the last time it ran it was t/t - thanks to B&L for headsup for todays info. 27th January 2024.

I got a headsup from Daniel Larabee that the CofG Heritage Unit was on NS 285 and was able to sneak out of work for a bit to catch a few shots. Not the greatest with the grey of the locomotive blending in with the grey of the day.
But, it was worth the trip since I hadn't seen this one yet. This makes 16/20 on the NS side.

I am alone.
No one can see me. I am trapped in this triangular chamber - my home - for the next 9 months. I divide. Now I’m two. Four. Eight. Sixteen. Zygote. Embryo. Now, I am sitting here, crouched in a little ball, surrounded with blood and veins. I feed off the nutrients that my owner consumes. I stay within her, adding 3 kilos of burden to her young, delicate body. I feel claustrophobic. The smell disgusts me. I want to get out. I move around, I kick. I do everything possible to make her realize that I want to get out. Her water finally breaks out. I can feel someone pulling on my head. Stronger and stronger. I can feel her pushing me out. Harder and Harder. One push. Two pushes. Three pushes. I’m out. And I’m alone.
The light blinds me. There are people surrounding me, smiling down at me, while I cry. I let the tears flow out of dissatisfaction, out of the mere frustration that I wasn’t comfortable in the small triangular chamber, and nor am I happy in this large rectangular I.C.U. I lied there, crying while everybody hugged each other with happiness shining through their evil eyes. I soon realize that these are the very people that I have to spend the rest of my stay here. And I soon realize that they don’t mean to be evil at all. It’s the nature of humanity that make them selfish, make them think of everything from a self-centered perspective. My childhood walks away, while I play with plastic toys and get entertained by those same people. Pampered by those same people. They always make sure I get all the happiness that they think I deserve. They claim that they know me and understand me. But, I doubt if I ever will know myself all that well. Thus, amongst all these heads around me, I am alone.
School. University. Job. Marriage. People. People everywhere. People at every phase of life. Conversation after conversation, we believe to be getting closer. But never close enough. Responsibilities grow. I become burdened. But I continue thinking of it as a rule of life and continue living, continue smiling. And continue running around. From home to office and from office to back home. I try to find happiness in this endless routine. But what did I finally get? More respect? More love? More money? Perhaps. So now I am here, apparently more respected, more loved and wealthier. But I am still not happy, not satisfied. I want more. And in this endless quest influenced by insatiable desires, I am alone.
Now I am here. Lying in this coffin, 10 feet under ground. All the respect, love and wealth that I chased all my life walked away from the gates of the grave. While I stay here, crouched in a little ball again. All the material things that I defined my life around, stay left behind. While my body shrinks and decays to mere 3 kilos all over again. All the people that I labelled as being “mine” are moving on with life. While I stay trapped in this 8 x 6 coffin. Trapped again. I want to get out but this time, I can’t. And something else also left me - the soul. The very soul that gave life to this body. In this constant chase after transitory, material, ephemeral things, I never once considered closing my eyes and looking right inside of me. If I did, I would have found Him. The one who is permanently satisfied, and permanently happy. The one that does not depend its happiness on momentary pleasures. The one who was with me all these years. Now He’s gone too, to a different body. And now, my eyes are permanently closed, but I can’t find Him anymore. Now, I am alone. Truly alone.

BN 7207, 9771, KCS 746 & BN 9213 - Crawford Hill, Nebraska - 1914 - 14/05/97 with a Southbound unit coal train, which was formed of c110 SEPX (Southwestern Electric Power) bottom discharge hoppers loaded with "Black Gold" & to climb the "hill" was assisted in the rear by one of the three "helper sets" that afternoon (photo tomorrow), which was formed of BN7246, 7280, 7230 & 7254 (plus fuel tender to keep them "on the road" or in service for the maximum time possible, so about 24,000hp for 13,000 tons.
After speaking to a local Sheriff earlier about where we could go & spotting his gun, we decided to stay by road on the outside of the curve, in case one of the crews reported us to the dispatcher for trespassing, altough with a scanner we could probably have heard it & moved on!
I've given up planning a holiday for this year & have started claening & labelling the remaining shots from my May 97 trip to the US & then will start on the UK in 2007 ready for Friday!
UPDATE (1250 - 12/02/25) - Instead of doing this morning's upload, I could have gone & photographed 37608 on 5P00 (0945 WO VSTP Broxbourne - Norwich Crown Point) towing 745109, but the crystal ball suffered a flat battery & with no headsup from anyone I annoyingly missed the shot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FURTHER UPDATE (1810 - 12/02/25) - A message regarding this working appeared 5 minutes later on Se-GEN at 1255 just as the train was arriving at Norwich (The unit failure or OHL damage appears to have occured about 1900 yesterday between Harlow Town & Broxbourne).
FINAL UPDATE (1245 - 13/02/25) - A message did appear on Social media at 0826 yesterday about the "drag", but I only look at Facebook once a day since Covid!
91109 "Sir Bobby Robson" & 67004 passed Watton at Stone at 1339 on 28/06/18 with 0Z11, the 0938 LNER light engine move from Doncaster to Bounds Green T&RSMD, which was running VSTP & 5 minutes early.

So, much like TAPC has always said, I'll be getting married in a suit made of Goretex - I picked up my Veilance Blazer and Pants in matching "Titanium" today since my other suits are much less fitted to me than this one. And I've always wanted a nice grey suit, so... win-win!

Charles 'Buddy' Rogers (1904-1999) was an American film actor and musician. During the peak of his popularity in the late 1920s and early 1930s, he was publicised as "America's Boy Friend". Rogers starred in such films as Wings (1927) and My Best Girl (1927), opposite his later wife Mary Pickford. He also found success as a bandleader and a musician.
Charles Edward 'Buddy' Rogers was born in 1904 in Olathe, Kansas, to Maude and Bert Henry Rogers. His father was a newsman who later became a probate judge in Johnson County. Charles He attended Olathe high school and studied at the University of Kansas where he became an active member of Phi Kappa Psi. In the mid-1920s, he trained at the Paramount Picture School and began acting professionally in Hollywood films. His film debut was a starring role in the silent romantic comedy Fascinating Youth (Sam Wood, 1926), along with Thelma Todd and Josephine Dunn in supporting roles. That year, he also appeared in the comedy So's Your Old Man (Gregory La Cava, 1926) starring W. C. Fields and Alice Joyce. Nicknamed "Buddy", his most-remembered film performance was opposite Clara Bow and Gary Cooper in the Oscar-winning war film Wings (William A. Wellman, 1927), the first film ever honored as Best Picture. Hundreds of extras and some 300 pilots were involved in the filming, including pilots and planes of the United States Army Air Corps which were brought in for the filming and to provide assistance and supervision. Wellman extensively rehearsed the scenes for the Battle of Saint-Mihiel over ten days with some 3500 infantrymen on a battlefield made for the production on location. Although the cast and crew had much spare time during the filming because of weather delays, shooting conditions were intense, and Wings took approximately nine months to complete in total. Acclaimed for its technical prowess and realism upon release, the film became the yardstick against which future aviation films were measured, mainly because of its realistic air-combat sequences. According to Wikipedia, Wings was one of the first films to show two men kissing, and also one of the first widely released films to show nudity. In the enlistment office are nude men undergoing physical exams, who can be seen from behind through a door which is opened and closed. Bow's breasts are revealed for a second during the Paris bedroom scene when military police barge in as she is changing her clothes. In the scene in which Rogers becomes drunk, the intoxication displayed on the screen was genuine, as although 22 years of age, he had never tasted liquor before, and quickly became inebriated from drinking champagne. A boom was built with the camera mounted on an extension to shoot the Café de Paris scene. For many years, Wings was considered a lost film until 1992 when a print was found in the Cinémathèque Française film archive in Paris and quickly copied from nitrate film to safety film stock. It was again shown in theaters, including some theaters where the film was accompanied by Wurlitzer pipe organs. In 1997, Wings was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Rogers then appeared in the silent romantic comedy My Best Girl (Sam Taylor, 1927) opposite his future wife Mary Pickford. Charles Rosher received an Academy Award nomination for his cinematography of this film in 1928. He co-starred again with Clara Bow in the romantic comedy Get Your Man (Dorothy Arzner, 1927). His first part-talkie was Abie's Irish Rose (Victor Fleming, 1928) with Nancy Carroll. They co-starred again in the musical Close Harmony (John Cromwell, A. Edward Sutherland, 1929).
Charles 'Buddy' Rogers was a talented trombonist skilled on several other musical instruments. He performed with his own dance band in films and on the radio. He performed in such musicals as the all-star American revue Paramount on Parade (Edmund Gouldin, and ten other directors, 1930), and the British musical Dance Band (Marcel Varnel, 1935). In 1930, he recorded two records for Columbia as a solo singer with a small jazz band accompanying. In 1932, he signed with Victor and recorded four sweet dance band records with a group organized by drummer, and later actor, Jess Kirkpatrick. In 1933–1934 Rogers took over the popular Joe Haymes orchestra, to which he added drummer Gene Krupa. His later bands were organised by Milt Shaw. In 1938, he signed with Vocalion and recorded six swing records. During World War II, he served in the United States Navy as a flight training instructor. After making An Innocent Affair (Lloyd Bacon, 1948), he retired from the screen for nine years, concentrating on television and radio work. His final screen appearance before his retirement from films was in the Western The Parson and the Outlaw (Oliver Drake, 1957). It was produced by Charles 'Buddy' Rogers Productions and distributed by Columbia Pictures. The film stars Anthony Dexter as Billy the Kid, along with Buddy Rogers, Sonny Tufts, Marie Windsor, and Jean Parker. In 1960, a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was dedicated to Rogers at 6135 Hollywood Blvd, for his contribution to the motion picture industry. In 1986, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honored Rogers with The Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, and in 1993, a Golden Palm Star on the Palm Springs Walk of Stars was dedicated to him. In 1937, Rogers became the third husband of silent film actress Mary Pickford. Their romance had begun in 1927, when they co-starred in My Best Girl, but they kept it on ice until Pickford's separation and 1936 divorce from Douglas Fairbanks. According to IMDb, he reported that Clark Gable "once told Mary [Mary Pickford] when we got married, that it wouldn't last six months" because he was 11 years younger than her. They remained married for 42 years until Pickford's death in 1979. The couple adopted two children — Roxanne (born 1944, adopted in 1944) and Ronald Charles (born 1937, adopted in 1943). He became estranged from daughter Roxanne when, at age 18, she ran off to marry a man her parents did not approve of. In 1982, Rogers married Beverly Ricono, a well-regarded philanthropist in the Palm Desert area, and the couple remained together till his death. According to Wikipedia, Rogers was reportedly bisexual and had an affair with Gene Raymond who was married to Jeanette MacDonald. IMDb: "Jeanette MacDonald and Gene Raymond were married on June 16, 1937. Nine days later, Mary Pickford and Charles 'Buddy' Rogers were wed. That same night, both couples left aboard the liner Lurline to honeymoon in Honolulu. Their respective cabins were adjacent, and Raymond and Rogers seem to have already been quite well acquainted. According to reliable sources, the two wives found the two grooms commencing a honeymoon of their own." Charles 'Buddy' Rogers died in Rancho Mirage, California, in 1999, at the age of 94 of natural causes, and was interred at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Cathedral City, near Palm Springs.

On the Round Oak steels you see 'almost' all the 'Sheds' over time but some are more elusive than others! This is the most elusive one! The last time I saw this particular locomotive in the Kidderminster / Bewdley area was almost 30 years ago when I saw it heading over Sandbourne Viaduct on the SVR during a Sunday ballast drop ex Bescot!
DB Cargo 66099 heads the 6M41 Margam - Round Oak fully loaded steel (max 25) through Kidderminster, working hard, after a signal stop.
