Well here it is, my very first proper HDR! I'd like to dedicate this photo to /\ltus and Stuck in Customs who have inspired me to try out HDR for myself - thanks guys, I owe you one! Special thanks to Trey (Stuck in Customs) for his discount code - cheers dude! Incidentally if you want to see how HDR is really done I strongly recommend you check out these guys photostreams, I promise you you won't be disappointed :-)

There I think that's more than enough shameless fawning, on with the business of creating some cool images.

bit of a rarity me busting out photomatix these days but sometimes we all need a bit of dirty HDR!

Saw the beautiful full moon tonight and had to try my first true HDR shot. Please let me know what you think and how I can improve.

Thanks for viewing,

I am not a fan of HDR, you see utterly ghastly examples everywhere.

This was done with Nikon's in-camera 2-shot HDR which generates a JPEG only output, back in the days when I was experimenting with the D800E. Obviously Nikon is not in favor of HDR and made the option rather limited.

You can get better results from bracketed shots. Then again, with so much dynamic range in Sony sensors (D800E used a Sony sensor), bracketing is usually unnecessary.

Yasaka Shrine is not known for its autumn colors but there are lovely splashes of reds late in the season.

The result here is acceptable, further edited of course. Always a learning experience.

Esse trapiche, é o ancoradouro para uma lancha que faz a travessia para a ilha. Do outro lado, temos vários bares e restaurantes com frutos do mar. É chamado Ponta da Barra.

(This trapiche, is the anchorage for a motor boat that makes the passage for the island. Of the other side, we have some bars and restaurants with fruits of the sea. Tip is called the Bar.)
