Murphy’s Haystacks are ancient, wind-worn pillars and boulders of pink granite estimated to be over 1,500 million years old.
Set in the middle of a wheat field and surrounded by mallee scrub, they are one of the most popular and photographed attractions on the Eyre Peninsula.
Murphy’s Haystacks are located on the Cash family farm, 39 kilometres south of Streaky Bay and just two kilometres off the main Flinders Highway on the main road into Calca and Point Labatt.
Here's a shot of the haystack at the top of Mt. Si. This one is when snow was covering, and it is NOT recommended to climb when it is slick, icy, or snowy!
Just in time on a foggy evening to catch the sunset at cannon beach.

From our last night in Oregon. I was hoping for a great sunset but the early evening was filled with a drizzle. But the sky did open briefly and had some pinks and purples so I focused on instead on capturing the reflection. I couldn't decide which composition I liked best so I am posting them all. Ha!

On the final night of my recent Road Scholar photography program on the Oregon Coast, we shot the sunset at Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach. While waiting for the stars to appear, we had some fun with light painting.
Donna and I had taken an early morning walk at low tide while the kids slept in. Right after my shot, Donna picked this guy up and escorted him to the ocean.

A perfect day to hike - low humidity and cool temperatures.
Elk Lake parking lot and hike to Panther Gorge via the Elk Lake Marcy trail. We will hike over the shoulder of Pinnacle and through Marcy Swamp to get to Panther Gorge, which lies between New York's first and third highest mountains, Marcy and Haystack. This area hosts some of the most remote backcountry hiking in the Adirondacks.
Cuts, bruises, a new 46er, hiking out in the dark (13 hour day) full sky of stars, shooting stars and alas, no bear or moose.

An Amish Haystack dinner is built by a line of lovely Amish ladies at Nappanee, Indiana. It was a fundraiser dinner for the school. Crushed crackers, rice, meat sauce, tomatoes, peppers, onions, cheese and apple pie with home-made icecream. The setting was the annual fall Amish furniture show. - by Craig Tidball
This is Haystack Rock along the Oregon Coast at Cannon Beach. It was amazingly stormy and dramatic this day.

Tried to do something a little different from the thousands of images I've seen of Haystack in Cannon Beach. Well after sunset under a full moon.
