Not to be confused with straw.
Good quality hay is green and not too coarse, and includes plant heads and leaves as well as stems. This is fresh grass/alfalfa hay, newly baled.
Hay is grass, legumes or other herbaceous plants that have been cut, dried, and stored for use as animal fodder, particularly for grazing livestock such as cattle, horses, goats, and sheep. Hay is also fed to pets such as rabbits and guinea pigs. Pigs may be fed hay, but they do not digest it as efficiently as more fully herbivorous animals.
Hay is fed when or where there is not enough pasture or rangeland on which to graze an animal, when grazing is unavailable due to weather (such as during the winter) or when lush pasture by itself is too rich for the health of the animal. It is also fed during times when an animal is unable to access pasture, such as when animals are kept in a stable or barn.

Beautifull spring sunshine illuminates the Fells.
I've already uploaded a similar pano a couple of weeks ago. This pano captures Robinson, Hindscarth and Fleetwith Pike.
A lovely scene...

Haystack Creek Falls is an unmarked waterfall, falling down the mountain in step-like fashion. As the road crosses Haystack Creek, the water flows under the road and just keeps going.

Haystack Rock is a massive towering rock formation off the coast, with adjacent stone “needles”, vibrant tidepools, and flocks of seabirds adorning the landmark.
This is Haystack Rock in Cannon Beach, Oregon. I took this photo during the 2010 Worldwide Photowalk that Tiff and I participated in.

This parody of Claude Monet's "Haystack at Sunset" is part of my ARTstreams series, which inserts classic Airstream trailers into famous art from throughout history.
I inserted the trailer after imitating Monet's oil brushstrokes with pastels, and then integrated it into the trailer with Photoshop.

The view towards south-east. fine residential houses dot the picturesque Peak scene. On the right is the large Mount Austin Hotel, built in about 1890 with every expectation of success, which, however, did not materialise. It was sold, in 1897, to the Army and converted into quarters for troops.
