Vischering Castle (Burg Vischering) in Lüdinghausen, North Rhine-Westphalia is the most typical moated castle in the Münster region of Germany. This region has one of the highest German concentrations of castles, palaces and fortifications, Lüdinghausen having three by itself. The castle consists of outer defensive courtyard, defensive gateways, moat, drawbridge, main building and chapel. The sandstone walls, the red tile roofs as well as their reflection in the moat provide many harmonious views from the wooded surroundings.
Vischering Castle was built by Bischop Gerhard von der Mark to counter the second castle built by the Von Lüdinghausen family. It became the seat of the Droste zu Vischering Family. Droste is the local title for the hereditary noble administrators serving the Bishops of Münster. The moat is constantly replenished by a side-arm of the River Stever. The outer defensive courtyard contains the business and farm buildings. The main building is a horseshoe-shaped three-story structure with heavy outer wall. Its inner courtyard is closed off by the chapel and a lower defense wall. A castle keep is missing, having been removed during Renaissance renovations. Fire destroyed the castle in 1521. Rebuilding took place on the existing foundation. Windows and the addition of a large bay made the castle more liveable but diminished its defensive character. The whole site however retains the character of a feudal age moated castle. Damage from air attack during World War II was minor.
Vischering Castle houses the Münsterlandmuseum, an exhibit on knighthood for children, as well as a cafe-restaurant. It serves as a cultural center for Kreis Coesfeld. Most of the viewers of the three pictures in this series so far will have an idea of the motivation behind their creation. - Of course ... it is a feeling of powerlessness - in the face of the excessive handling of humanity with its only home: the earth. - I think, especially among photographers it is not necessary to go into detail. But if I am wrong, just looking at the environmental catastrophes owing to rising damage reports in the insurance industry is enough.
The pictures should not bring insects or spiders into disrepute. The motives are only symbolic of the many self-inflicted catastrophes, of which the species extinction is only one of many. - The idea for its creation is already months ago. But it was the expected amount of time that kept getting in the way of a start. - It is expected that there will be more in this series, but not in the short term.
Amongst some things that I have barely had any focus on in recent months is the production of my own musical ideas. Since this will change immediately, the number of less time-consuming image publications will probably thin out for some time.

Aber es war der zu erwartende Zeitaufwand, der einem Anfang immer wieder im Wege stand. - Voraussichtlich wird Weiteres in dieser Reihe entstehen, wenn auch nicht kurzfristig.
Unter Einigem, was ich in den vergangenen Monaten kaum noch im Fokus hatte, gehört die Produktion eigener musikalischer Ideen. Da sich das ab sofort ändert, wird das wohl auch die Zahl an weniger zeitintensiven Bildveröffentlichungen für einige Zeit deutlich ausdünnen.

The Gardens of Villa Melzi strech out along the lake shore and are harmoniously inserted into the hilly scenery of the Bellagio peninsula that divides the two branches of the
lake. Inland, the Villa, the Chapel and the orangery, today transformed into a historical museum, are splendid expression of neo-classical style and as such stated
national monument.
This architectural complex was realized between 1808 and 1810 for Francesco Melzi d'Eril (1753-1816), Duke of Lodi, Vice President of Italian Republic under Napoleon and afterwards Gran Chancellor of the Napoleonic Reign of Italy.
Francesco Melzi d'Eril relied upon the architect and decorator Giocondo Albertolli (1742-1839), an exponent of great importance in neo-classicism, asking for a villa looking sober and polished whose simples lines and volumes would emphasise the surrounding amazing countryside.
The Villa that became the Melzi's residence at the end of his political career and afterwards his summer residence until his death was decorated and furnished by some of the most famous artists of the age: as well as along with Giocondo Albertolli author of the great part of furniture and inside decorations, are to be noted the painters Andrea Appiani (1754-1817) and Giuseppe Bossi (1777-1815), Alessandro Sanquirico (1777-1849) and the sculptors Antonio Canova (1757-1822), Giambattista Comolli (1775-1830), Pompeo Marchesi (1789-1858), as well as the bronze sculptor Luigi Manfredini (1771-1840).
The English styled gardens, enriched with sculptures, was designed by the architect Luigi Canonica and by the botanist Luigi Villoresi, both responsible for the arrangement of Villa Reale park in Monza.
Through the contribution of great artists and artisans and the special concordance between them and Francesco Melzi the whole complex was shaped like a place of rare harmony and was admired, among the others, by Stendhal who described its beauty in his book "Rome, Naples, Florence" dated 1817.

Sometimes ALL our cats get along. We have more than a few, and they are a fairly harmonious pride of cats! We called them "the people." :)

Buried deep in the Serra do Açor (a protected landscape area), which is full of breathtaking views, springs and pastureland, the historical village of Piódão is reminiscent of a crib because of the harmonious way in which its houses are arranged in the form of an amphitheatre. At night, when the village´s lights are turned on, this picture is particularly magnificent.
The distinctive feature of this mountain village with its narrow winding streets is schist, a stone found in great abundance in the region and used to build the houses and pavements, forming a large patch of uniform colour, interrupted by the vivid blue of the windows or doors of some houses. This note of dissonant colour owes its origin to a practical consideration, for it is said that the only shop in the village had nothing but blue paint to sell, and in view of the village´s isolation it was not easy for people to travel anywhere else. It has in fact been this isolation and the difficulties in travelling elsewhere that have helped to preserve many of the characteristics of this ancient village intact.
Amongst the group of small two-storey houses, the one building that particularly stands out is the parish church dedicated to Our Lady of the Conception, which is whitewashed and supported by some rather peculiar cylindrical buttresses. It was built by the local population in the early 19th century, with their gold and money.
In view of its hidden setting in the foothills of the serra, Piódão was once an ideal location for fugitives from justice, and it is thought that one of the murderers of D. Inês de Castro went into hiding here, thus escaping the wrath of D. Pedro I (14th century).
A historical village that has never actually played a major part in the History of Portugal, Piódão has become famous more recently because of its scenographic setting in the heart of the Serra do Açor. Such beauty is more than sufficient reason for visiting the village.
Laying about yesterday on a warm and breezy afternoon watching the grasses in a constant state of flux as the blowing trees facilitated the dancing light.

The fourth extension, with its independent design, adds a new architectural element to the Deutsches Platz and at the same time realises a harmonious structural connection between the main building and the library tower of the German National Library. The first two extensions still extended behind the façade of the German Library built by Oskar Pusch in 1916. In the 1970s, the GDR built a cool, windowless complex of five high towers at only a short distance from the historic building. The newly created extension closes the gap and connects the neo-classical building with its Viennese Art Nouveau influences with the library towers to form an ensemble. Through the new extension, the three different architectural styles now communicate with each other.

La cathédrale Saint-Étienne de Bourges est une cathédrale gothique construite entre la fin du XIIe et la fin du XIIIe siècle.
Architecturally, the building is remarkable both for its harmonious proportions, linked to the unity of its design, and for the quality of its tympanums, sculptures and stained glass windows. It differs in particular from the other great cathedrals of the time by a completely new search for a unified interior space. The Saint-Étienne de Bourges cathedral is a Gothic cathedral built between the end of the 12th and the end of the 13th century.

The Old Village of Hollókő is a Palócz settlement located in the County of Nógrád in Northern Hungary, about 100 km north-east of Budapest. The Old Village, which has been deliberately preserved, is a living example of rural life before the agricultural revolution of the 20th century. The rural architectural ensemble, which covers 145 ha, consists of 55 residential buildings, farm buildings and the church. Together, the traditional Palócz use of architectural forms and materials form a harmonious unit with the surrounding landscape and natural environment, characterized by strip-field farming, orchards, vineyards, meadows and woods. The property also includes the medieval castle ruins situated on the hill perched above the village, which is mentioned as early as 1310. This castle played a decisive part in the feudal wars of the Palóc and the Hussite and served as protection for the village whose ruins have been found a little way from its walls.
At the end of the Ottoman occupation (1683) the castle and the village were finally abandoned and the present village established below. I developed gradually throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. As was customary in the region, the first generation of inhabitants settled on either side of the main street. In this one-street village, subsequent generations built their houses at the back of the narrow family plots, thus progressively enlarging the built-up area. The barns were built apart from the village, on the edges of the fields, according to Palócz custom.
The development of the village and the agriculture can be traced from various documents. In 1782, Hollókő was still a typical one-street village. Later, a second street developed to the east of the main street. A plan from 1885 shows that the topography was already like that of the present-day plan: the amount of cultivated land had reached its maximum by the mid-19th century and the village could therefore grow no further. Some limited growth started again in 1960 and is now strictly controlled.
