The mysterious bluesman, ( see www.flickr.com/photos/docteur-chris/9564190257/ ) who is also a photographer, gave me a challenge: Make an image with al tones of harmonicas. This is not supposed to be a neat product shot at all.

EL misterioso bluesman, (ver www.flickr.com/photos/docteur-chris/9564190257 ) que es también fotógrafo, me dio un reto: hacer una imagen con su juego de todo los tonos de armónicas. No se supone para nada ser una vista limpia de producto.

Practice makes perfect, just hope my missus is patient with me.

A miniature harmonica designed to be worn on a chain but it plays perfectly. I bought it at a 'Maximum Rhythm 'n Blues' concert a few years ago.

Rock on

The back is written in German. "Frau Lisa Hoffman..." the rest I can't make out. Taken in 1966.

"Foto: Ernst Liniger" is stamped on the back, also.

Ned inherited this harmonica from an aunt in Ohio. Unused it would be worth some money. This one has been played, but still works fine.

From an enjoyable morning's return visit to the Manchester Central library, this time with Mark.

(Not so) new toy, a birthday gift from 2014. Learning to play the harmonica is one of this year´s main goals.

Walked up to this guy playing the harmonica on the side of the street and asked him if I could make his picture. He replied with a nod, and then said "wait, let me get my teeth out".

These are the famous Harmonica Towers which define the skyline of beautiful, downtown Lakeside, California. Pictured here are towers A, C and F. Towers D, G and E are on the back side and are not in the picture. These were designed by well known Canadian blues artist and architect, Lee Oscar in the 1990's. As you can see they're only ten stories tall, but in Lakeside, that's tall. Not only that, but during a strong wind, the building emits a pleasing and bluesy sound which varies, depending on whether the wind is sucking or blowing. Rock on, Harmonica Towers.

Playing the harmonica

On a recent trip to O'Reilly's Retreat, we saw several of these lovely little birds, in the rainforest. This one is probably a female (grey bill) and they are very widespread across Australia. About 25cm in length.

I Can´t play any instrument, and it sucks!

I Love the Mouth Harmonica, so one goal for me, is to learn to play the Harmonica!xb

Enjoy :)

I'd be lying if I told you I can rip out my harmonica and play an amazing song, but I am learning. I think it's such a cool little instrument.

So, I get a new harmonica today, a Hohner Special 20.

I spent my morning looking for a couple of Special 20 or Golden Melody (in A & D) but I just find the Special 20 in D.

Family is growing.

Custom Wire wrap Harmonica case done like an owl.

Customized further with the musicians name on the back. Made from twisted, netted and hammered wire. The netting was done in such a way to appear like small feathers. His "beak" pops open to lift the lid of the case.
