Reeds are pre-tuned to individual tones, and each tone is determined according to the size of reed. Longer reeds make deep, low sounds and short reeds make higher-pitched sounds. On certain types of harmonica the pre-tuned reed can be changed (bending a note) to another note by redirecting air flow into the chamber. There are many types of harmonicas, including diatonic, chromatic, tremolo, orchestral, and bass versions

I'm not so keen on playing the harmonica. I only know two or three songs, but I love its sound. I hope I could remember more of it, so I can dedicate time on learning how to play it.

I follow this woman a lot of mornings on Lake Street, I love this bumper sticker because not only does it parody Christians, it also implies that Bob Dylan is two cars ahead of me.

This is Tom. He is the lead singer from my band. Him and my guitarist always do a small acoustic set half way through our gig. I thought i would take a few snaps of him playing the harmonica.

Adam Glasser Quintet

Adam Glasser - Harmonica

Roger Beaujolais - Vibraphone

Robin Aspland - Piano

Steve Watts - Double Bass

Nic France - Drums

Originally from South Africa Adam Glasser is one of the UK's leading chromatic harmonica players, appearing on many gigs, sessions and recordings.

He has appeared with Joe Zawinul, Sting, The Eurythmics, BBC Concert Orchestra, London Philharmonica Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Incognito and the African Jazz Allstars amongst many others.

On this gig his brilliant quintet features the excellent vibes player Roger Beaujolais and they will be performing south african jazz standards and original compositions from his forthcoming CD 'Mzansi'

Stunning musicians playing interesting material with the added bonus of unusual orchestration. A great start to the year and one not to be missed.

"This recording is superb from start to finish and should firmly establish Glasser as the heir apparent to Toots Thielemans "

- Thomas R. Erdmann - www.jazzreview.com

"all the virtuosity and panache associated with practitioners on more conventional instruments [ ...] a wholly impressive evening's music from a man in complete control of his considerable resources"

This old guy was sitting in an open square when the temperature was -15C and the wind chill was another 10C to 15C, busking on the street. He repeatedly stamped his feet when playing, to keep them warm I presume. Spent a few moments talking to him, and he was very pleasant to chat with.
