Lepus europaeus

This Mountain Hare displays it's survival instincts by selecting a sheltered spot to keep out the wind.

Eyes wide with surprise, a hare emerges from its hiding place, caught in the golden light.

A couple more from last weekend...

Came belting across the field towards us and then turned at speed and for once I was able to follow it with the camera. Not easy to get a good shot through the heat-haze but certainly a great encounter! Also saw other hares boxing but sadly too far away for photography.

Many thanks to all who comment, fave or just enjoy looking, it really is very much appreciated!

Another series of leverets (Brown Hares) from the last few weeks...

I used a combination of photos and merged them in photoshop elements to produce this Hare in the Moonlight.

Another series of images of Brown Hares taken on RSPB Havergate Island...

A street portrait of a beautiful young lady - Hare Krishna movement devotee - performing a ritual dance during a Krisna followers parade. May the happiness be with her.

Lay watching these two hares for about an hour waiting for them to wake up and start foraging

It was great to catch up with the Saddleworth Mountain hares today, counted 11 in total including 3 in one photo.

Lovely animals to see, but very shy. Always take my photos from afar so I don't disturb them while they are chilling in the afternoon sun

... careful rabbit in the field!

Our resident Snowshoe Hare showed up again this morning for a photo shoot. Since the last shoot, 10 day ago, the grass is much greener in our yard. With the sun shining, the Hare's ears look like they are lit up.

We don't see the native hares in our neighbourhood frequently, but certainly every once in a while. Initially I was thrilled to see one in the front garden this morning, but then noticed the injury on its left side. It looks like it's had it for a while, and so we're hoping and praying it's only minor. Not sure if the scar is from a run-in with one of the local predators, or a fence...

A couple of 'hare running towards head on' shots. Both taken on the same morning. The hares use this track regularly so it's just a case of lying in wait...

Just another hare

My First Half Decent Shot Of A Hare. Another Off The List.

Always on alert, a brown hare at dawn, Hessen, Germany

We went looking for Mountain Hares as i prepare now for the winter season of following a few of these.

First local hare in a long time.

A play about with post processing

Continuing on with the Hares - I can't get enough of them!

Here's a couple from yesterday morning...

Lepus europaeus

European hare, Europese haas, Hase, Lièvre

Looking like it is in the studio, and posing perfectly before heading out to where things are hopping.

A different light and mood, one from a couple of days ago. This is from early in my shoot, before sunrise, in subdued light.

Never get tired of seeing these guys... :)

Brown Hare having a feed up in a lush green wild meadow late evening :-)

These hares, along with the Snowy Owls, were bright spots for me in Manitoba's unusually harsh and snowbound winter of 2021/22.

Ik kan geen omschrijving vinden, maar in de kamers achter de deuren hangen "haringen".

Uhm, dit is in het Zuiderzeemuseum te Enkhuizen.

Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated. And thank you all for looking.
