Sax Zim Bog. Minnesota. We kept missing the ermine by just minutes but was a nice consolation prize to get some time with this handsome hare.

A couple more of the local hares... :)

The last few days saw me take another trip back up to the Scottish Highlands as the snow had finally arrived. My first full day was in the company of this Mountain Hare, high up on the Cairngorm Mountain...

Thank you all who fave and comment on my photo'/video's,much appreciated. And thank you all for looking.

Plenty more to come! :)

A Snowshoe Hare in autumn that is in the midst of transitioning to its winter white coat. It had just been chased by the Pine Marten posted to the left but it is safe here. It started with a huge lead on the weasel which eventually gave up its all-out chase.

There has been a lot of farming near home recently. The usual spot I went to for the hares in February/March is now a potato field so they disappeared. It wasn't until recently that I found where they've been hiding. I'm hoping over the coming weeks to do much better than these two shots, but for now...

A frosty encounter of the whiskery kind from earlier this week...

Getting the eye from this super Hare.

Thanks for the visit Guys.

I've just got back from spending time up in the Scottish Highlands.

While there was a good covering of snow up on the hills there wasn't really any lower down. Unfortunately I arrived between two spells of snow.

Still, it was great to see the Mountain Hare in their white coats and in a good covering of snow. Always a good reason to return!

Here's a shot I was hoping to get showing the Hares in their harsh and unforgiving environment.

There wasn't enough room for the title on the drawing itself. I don't know wether that's a plus or not....

This Mountain Hare displays it's survival instincts by selecting a sheltered spot to keep out the wind.

It was a pleasure to see and photograph some of these big hares last night after a winter of seeing few and not having a chance at a shot.

Eyes wide with surprise, a hare emerges from its hiding place, caught in the golden light.

A couple more from last weekend...

Came belting across the field towards us and then turned at speed and for once I was able to follow it with the camera. Not easy to get a good shot through the heat-haze but certainly a great encounter! Also saw other hares boxing but sadly too far away for photography.

Many thanks to all who comment, fave or just enjoy looking, it really is very much appreciated!

Another series of leverets (Brown Hares) from the last few weeks...

I used a combination of photos and merged them in photoshop elements to produce this Hare in the Moonlight.

It was great to catch up with the Saddleworth Mountain hares today, counted 11 in total including 3 in one photo.

Lovely animals to see, but very shy. Always take my photos from afar so I don't disturb them while they are chilling in the afternoon sun

... careful rabbit in the field!

A couple of 'hare running towards head on' shots. Both taken on the same morning. The hares use this track regularly so it's just a case of lying in wait...
