There has been a lot of farming near home recently. The usual spot I went to for the hares in February/March is now a potato field so they disappeared. It wasn't until recently that I found where they've been hiding. I'm hoping over the coming weeks to do much better than these two shots, but for now...

I've just got back from spending time up in the Scottish Highlands.

While there was a good covering of snow up on the hills there wasn't really any lower down. Unfortunately I arrived between two spells of snow.

Still, it was great to see the Mountain Hare in their white coats and in a good covering of snow. Always a good reason to return!

Here's a shot I was hoping to get showing the Hares in their harsh and unforgiving environment.

Watching this little hare as the sun was setting, how delicate their ears are....

Mountain hare in winter coat - First time I've managed to get a shot of them before they disappear

A couple more from last weekend...

A frosty encounter of the whiskery kind from earlier this week...

On a sunny morning, at 7AM, on the roadside .. if I had not been in a car, it would have disappeared in one second ..

Getting the eye from this super Hare.

Thanks for the visit Guys.

A different light and mood, one from a couple of days ago. This is from early in my shoot, before sunrise, in subdued light.

A Scottish Highland Hare sits nicely silhouetted against the sky among the tall grasses up the uplands.

An earlier view of another visitor, whose fur was still mostly white

A couple of 'hare running towards head on' shots. Both taken on the same morning. The hares use this track regularly so it's just a case of lying in wait...

Just another hare

More for the ongoing hare project... :)

It was great to catch up with the Saddleworth Mountain hares today, counted 11 in total including 3 in one photo.

Lovely animals to see, but very shy. Always take my photos from afar so I don't disturb them while they are chilling in the afternoon sun

This hare appeared not far away from me and just sat there taking in the sea breeze at the beach.

There wasn't enough room for the title on the drawing itself. I don't know wether that's a plus or not....

The expression on the face of this hare! I’ve been thinking of what was going through it’s mind but thought it’d be fun to hear what everyone else thinks 😂

Early evening and the hares are starting to wake up, this fellow popped out from behind the bales and started to preen before going on the feed.

very lucky today had this hare stroll past me I was behind some reeds so had to wait for some gaps to get the shots in

Continuing on with the Hares - I can't get enough of them!

Here's a couple from yesterday morning...

More Hares!

It may be a 4am start but I'm loving spending time with these awesome guys!

I've just written a little waltz named after this flower. You can hear it at: The Hare Bell Waltz

First local hare in a long time.

Continuing the Mountain Hare theme, he's a couple more of one shaking some recent snowfall off it's fur.
