There has been a lot of farming near home recently. The usual spot I went to for the hares in February/March is now a potato field so they disappeared. It wasn't until recently that I found where they've been hiding. I'm hoping over the coming weeks to do much better than these two shots, but for now...
I've just got back from spending time up in the Scottish Highlands.
While there was a good covering of snow up on the hills there wasn't really any lower down. Unfortunately I arrived between two spells of snow.
Still, it was great to see the Mountain Hare in their white coats and in a good covering of snow. Always a good reason to return!

On a sunny morning, at 7AM, on the roadside .. if I had not been in a car, it would have disappeared in one second ..
A different light and mood, one from a couple of days ago. This is from early in my shoot, before sunrise, in subdued light.
A Scottish Highland Hare sits nicely silhouetted against the sky among the tall grasses up the uplands.
A couple of 'hare running towards head on' shots. Both taken on the same morning. The hares use this track regularly so it's just a case of lying in wait...
It was great to catch up with the Saddleworth Mountain hares today, counted 11 in total including 3 in one photo.
Lovely animals to see, but very shy. Always take my photos from afar so I don't disturb them while they are chilling in the afternoon sun

Early evening and the hares are starting to wake up, this fellow popped out from behind the bales and started to preen before going on the feed.
