My first ever photo of a Hare and by the looks of him he's been in the wars. Probably hurt his eye boxing with another Hare in the springtime scuffles.
This hare was born in, or nearby, our backyard in the spring. Over the course of the summer, he or she has become like a member of our family (albeit one we can't get too close to). I've never seen such beautiful eyes on a hare before and he/she is an absolute joy to watch.
Brown hares or European hares (Lepus europaeus) are adapted to the cold and snowy winters in the northern hemisphere, but finding something to eat must be much more difficult in winter than in other seasons. Brown hare survives the winter by munching buds and bark of young trees. It also eats noble trees like apple tree peel. We have also noticed that they consider Moss Phlox in our garden especially delicious in winter.

Taken at Welney, Norfolk, on another dull day. Heavy crop. ISO 1600. Nikon 300mm F2.8 + 1.4 TC. (20m)
This hare was so close , didn't think I'd get all of him in shot . He sat in front of the car after this.
Its not the clearest shot but it was amazing to see it its taken us two weekends to find them, awesome to witness and it was only still for seconds and that's why it isn't so clear, I loved the Mad March Hare
The Hare was one of the most celebrated racers of all time. It was both fast in a straight line and good at tight turns. This winning ship caused a major change in the construction rules for rules for its class, leading to its disqualification and retirement.

The chase is on!
I watched these three hares running round a field very early one morning in February. Taken from a distance on a very high ISO because the light was so poor.
Welney, Cambridgeshire
I must make it a rule to always have my camera in fx mode. Unfortunately today I had left it in dx mode when a pair of Hares ran right up to me
I came across these two hares on a lovely snowy local walk this week. I was surprised to see that they are already mating. (I haven't added a photo!)

This image was captured at sunset, using the sun to back light the Hare and adding negative exposure bias in camera.
I've had to rely on a big crop in post processing to achieve this image, due to the Hare being over 75M away!
Thanks for visiting my Flickr page. Happy to receive feedback / comments!
This Mountain Hare gives the impression that it has just waken to discover it's environment is snow covered.
Made my first trip out of 2015 with 2 of my mates and we encountered some awful conditions...mainly on the drive there and back! Aswell as some white out/blizzard conditions in the hills searching for Mountain Hares! Found a couple that sat long enough for us to get some shots off but in general they were very flighty during our time with them, although we saw plenty of them about aswell as a couple of Golden Eagles.
An older photo from our ex house garden in winter time. Brown hares visited our garden in all seasons.

(Lepus americanus)
These hares turn completely white in winter except the tip of their ears. Check-out its large back feet.
I've just got back from spending time up in the Scottish Highlands.
While there was a good covering of snow up on the hills there wasn't really any lower down. Unfortunately I arrived between two spells of snow.
Still, it was great to see the Mountain Hare in their white coats and in a good covering of snow. Always a good reason to return!
March hares boxing in the warm morning sunshine, Caught my by suprise, only saw one moving in the field, never saw the second, so just a bit too far away for closer shots and shooting into the rising sun too. Lovely to watch them though, they ran around each other for a few mins before being disturbed by a farm vehicle and moving away over the ridgeline.
