BRUNO: "Thank you, Long-Ear! You are my salvation for getting me home in time for the Easter egg."
HARE: "If there's a next time, lose a few kilos, little bear! I'm not a heavy goods vehicle! Now please give me some carrots that your friend Maija has prepared for you, because I still have a lot to do. The children want their Easter eggs..."
BRUNO: "But the carrots are for me..."
HARE: "Nothing is for free, especially since the hedgehog couple tricked me in the race...."
BRUNO: "Isn't a bear hug and kisses enough?"
HARE: "After the race with you on my back, I want at least three carrots, a hug and a kiss - and then I'm off to the east. The children are waiting...."
Happy Easter!
We were so lucky to find this pink field and to have some hares running around even though we sometimes had to wait for hours. When you're completely camouflaged the hares are so curious that they run towards you to check you out. Well not all the time (*_*).
A lovely foretaste of the summer seaside - a stand of Hare Tail Grass on the shore of Waubs Bay, Bicheno, Tasmania.
Taken with a bit of legacy glass that gets an outing every once in a while - a Nikkor-P 75mm f/2.8 lens designed and produced by Nikon in the 1970s for the Bronica S series medium format camera.
It's a gloriously sharp lens stopped down but with very plush bokeh left wide open. It's uncoated however so flare must be well managed. A few to come from this outing.

Privelaged to have this hare come very close to me . I just sat still and watched it very aware that any movement would frighten it . It then moved away and sat for a couple of seconds allowing me the chance to get a photo before it ran off
Having had some time away from the Hares due to being away I was keen to visit again and see what they were up to. So I went to visit yesterday morning at sunrise...
This young Hare was surprisingly confiding for a while before continuing on in what seemed a relentless search for food.
I've been a bit quiet here but that's because I've been spending as much time as possible with these guys...
There is a petition going around to stop the shooting of hares during their peak breeding season, by establishing a legally enforceable close season for hares in England and Wales, from 1st Feb to 30th Sep. Shockingly hares are the only game animal that can be legally killed throughout the year. If you're anything like me and have a love for these amazing animals, please sign and share. The link to the petition is here...
I had a close encounter of the Harey kind today. There were 5 Hares running around in this field, I just sat at the edge watching them, keeping still & quiet. Then a couple of them started running towards me. I almost had to warn this one about social distancing during the current Covid-19 climate. It was a fantastic experience to have such an amazing animal come so close.
One from this morning. While I wish I could have photographed them boxing closer, I really like this scene and the light was that lovely pink/red glow you sometimes get at sunrise in winter...
