This is a drive head, normally it is flat and not sticking up like that, but there is a tiny magnet on the tip of that which flips off and on depending on what "bit" needs to be written on a sector of the hard drive.
There is a Drive head on the top and bottom of each platter iside the hard drive, the platters are those shiney disks - which are normally flat but the impact of the sledge has bent them.
The more platters, the more data you can store on the drive, most drives have 1 or 2 platters in them, but some server drives can have 4-5 platters, what this also means is that a drive with more platters is faster because it can write simultaneously to more than one platter, so your data is spread out accross the platters instead of being all lined up next to one another.
These spin at anywhere from 4800 Rotations Per Minute(RPM) in a low end laptop hard drive, to 7200 RPM in a normal comptuer hard drive, to 15,000 RPM in a server or NAS(Network Attached Storage)
Imagine that? Spinning around over 7000 times in a single minute? For some perspective, the blades on a deli slicer spin at around 300 RPM. Imagine the meat you could slice with one of those?
Le Disque dur externe est le 60Go d'origine de la PS3 que j'ai mis dans un boitier externe. Je l'ai remplacé par un 320Go Western Digital interne dans ma PS3 ^^.
A noter que ce disque dur branché en USB sur la PS3 doit ètre branché sur secteur par un cable d'alimentation. Et oui, les ports USB de la PS3 ne sont pas assez puissants pour auto-alimenter le disque dur :(

I found this picture (macro) of a spider's web rather fitting; a metaphor showing what my external harddisk looks like these days.
It's something like a web where a lot of photographs get stuck in, never to get out.
There's about 30Gb worth of pictures, with nearly everything sorted, but only half of it processed.
I didn't feel like uploading for a long time, and haven't even photographed that much since last summer, but soon i'll get to the point where I'll upload all pictures I have finished postprocessing/just feel good about.
There's many different pictures in store; lots of macro (you just do more of that in wintertime), panorama's, lots of nature (also for the FotV project), winter/snow pictures, and many from short random photoshoots/photowalks.
So viewers, please hang in there until next week (holidays!), I feel confident about lots of new and old things appearing on my stream.
As I see it, a picture's quality is never based on what time it was uploaded

Found in a dry wash near Buckman, probably left by an ancient people that we will never know much about.
There are some pottery shards of an unusual color, and a metallic object that might have been used for grinding corn or holding bits of something :^)

Den här söndagen har bara gett mer jobb.. En liten uppdatering till Windows 10 igår blev inte helt lyckad med dålig grafik. Så idag skulle det fixas. Men nej glöm det. Resultatet blev en halvt trasig hårddisk och ingen bra grafik. Okej bara att börja om från början med en hälften så stor hårddisk och en massa mer jobb.. Blä.. Ha det så bra. Kram Carina

Bought a new 1.5TB external hard disk (storage is really affordable now, btw) and in the packet there was a small bag of candy. A nice surprise that exceeded the expectations I had on the electronics company. A low price for them to pay to get a customer in a much better mood (not that I was in a bad mood to begin with).
rather old stuff, cuz on the paper Avril still looks like a young punk. i found this...in my harddisk. I could remember that i drew it from a magazine on math classes when i was in high school. I havent picked up a pencil to something after entered school of design. i think i need to do more sketch practice instead of playing on PS2...

CMOS settings required to make the old 486 see its tiny 100MB Quantum hard drive. Its battery has gone so you have to enter these every time you cut the power!
