It's hard to let go.

What can I tell you?

That's life.,,,

Clearly a railroad about out of time, this eastbound Dead Freight looks its name, a motley collection of low-priority loads but mostly empties pulled by a clapped-out collection of oil-leaking, smoke-belching locomotives years past their prime. On November 10, 1979, this 85-car train passes the salvaged siding of Corfu, west of Othello, Washington, behind U28B 5511, U30B 5609, U25B 5056, GP9s 280 and 285, and GP35 1500.

A pair of General Electric locomotives lean hard on the rear of the daily BNSF Denver to Provo, Utah, manifest train just east of Plain, Colorado, on Union Pacific's Moffat Tunnel Subdivision. Above the 8138, ES44C4 7102 and two mates are about to lead the train into Tunnel 1. Photo by Joe McMillan, August 20, 2021, 4:34 p.m.

This beautiful male Four-spot Chaser was just banking hard right to see off a rival male, the images I got before this one (before it started to move off quickly) the wings were beating in a different sequence, the two wings on the same side of the body were beating one up and one down, then in this shot, it had changed to all four beating together, I guess for extra thrust. I knew from reading about them previously, that they could do this, but have never seen it before. When I say seen it, I mean photographed it, because you can't actually see the beating wings with the naked eye !!

We had our first hard frost last weekend. For a change we did not have to be anywhere or do anything.

One side of the King George Falls in the remote north Kimberley of Western Australia, only accessible by boat of Helicopter. It was an exhileratng experience to set my camera and tripod up so close to such awesome power, and the noise was deafening.

Being so far from any other person other than my helicopter pilot added a real sense of where I stood in the scheme of things.

Working hard for his meal.

I think that a big fear for any artist or photographer is always loss of eyesight. I have a number of friends with problems who cope in the most amazing ways! Would I? I hope so. It IS a fear for me, though. (I was tired of posting "I am terrified of snakes!"

June 22 - FEAR - Tell us one of your biggest fears (You may use one you have posted before, just shoot it another way.)

One of several large storm cells that drifted eastward over Binalong Bay and out to sea. East coast, Tasmania. A few rumbles of thunder, the odd flash of lightning and a sharp shower to go with it.

Took a few frames of this particular beast, one of which was a long exposure but the cloud detail was way too mushy. The normal, test exposure, had all the cloud detail but way too many distractions from the wash in the foreground so I decided to blend them.
