This beautiful male Four-spot Chaser was just banking hard right to see off a rival male, the images I got before this one (before it started to move off quickly) the wings were beating in a different sequence, the two wings on the same side of the body were beating one up and one down, then in this shot, it had changed to all four beating together, I guess for extra thrust. I knew from reading about them previously, that they could do this, but have never seen it before. When I say seen it, I mean photographed it, because you can't actually see the beating wings with the naked eye !!

The Mini Challenge which is part of the BTCC circuit is defo one of the most hard fought racing you will see and makes for some of the best action shots after the main BTCC races themselves!
I was defo undergunned with the 70-200 from this angle which has led this to being quite a severe crop... I defo will benefit from having the 100-500 this year for angles like this!
A wee bit of over processing going on here but I like the gritty urban feel it gives... let me know what you think... too much?

I think that a big fear for any artist or photographer is always loss of eyesight. I have a number of friends with problems who cope in the most amazing ways! Would I? I hope so. It IS a fear for me, though. (I was tired of posting "I am terrified of snakes!"

Easter procession in Artà, Mallorca/Spain
The members of this brotherhood obviously had to do the hardest work, they carried a platform with various figures of saints, a brother ran backwards in front of the squad and gave instructions.
At the annual commemoration of the Passion of Jesus, celebrated by Catholic religious brotherhoods and fraternities in the small town of Artà, that perform penance processions on the streets.
The procession was accompanied by intense mystical drumbeats that went under the skin.
The sight of the Brotherhood with their pointy hats may be disturbing, but it is an old Catholic tradition and has nothing to do with the xenophobic club in the US.
For some reason, the pointy hat discussion raises its head every Semana Santa. One theory is that the pointy hats (capirotes) have their origins in the Spanish Inquisition, when convicts were paraded through the streets of their town as a penance, wearing coloured conical hats to indicate the crimes they were charged with. Over time, the hats changed to cover the face as well (so offenders could keep their anonymity) and grew in height as a way of drawing attention to God, rather than the wearer. Over time, the conical headdress became associated with penitence and was adopted accordingly by the Catholic Church in Spain.
I hadn't taken my tripod with me for space reasons and regretted it that evening.... All photos are therefore freehand photos.
