LOAD: there is usually something imperfect on every layout, but I don't care and don't fix it. Quite often a spelling error I've scribbled over, since I almost always handwrite. But come to think of it I've caught errors when my journaling it typed :)

I must say that I think the "whatever" flair button goes perfectly - the word and the colour match the page. The stitching around the edge is a rub on. On the "tv!" and around the bracket paper is with a white pen. I see my glossy accents wasn't dry and the flash caught it ;)

TURN OFF THE TV!!!

I could say it until I was blue in the face and wouldn't phase Kira. Excuses are either: ahh, but it just started OR ahh, but it's almost over. But I never get to see this one OR but it's a brand new one. When I know that it's the second time that episode has been on in a week I lose it and make her turn it off. But that's only when I catch it and haven't tuned it out. "It's time to go" OR "supper is ready" still gets a moan. Then she'll sneak downstairs and turn that one on.

There was something about the light in the winter of 1985/86. Or maybe it was just me. I saw shadows everywhere. There's a particular quality to the sunlight on a cold Irish winters day, maybe it's because of the low height of the sun, or maybe it's because the Irish are closer to god :-)

The net curtains here were the sexiest kind you could get in 1986! And no, they're not a re-use of an old sitting vest! My mother hated them but I needed to have them on my bedroom window. Mine was the only one in the house with them. My dad was convinced the neighbours could see through them, but then he was so paranoid about this that when the curtains were being washed he would stick pages of the Evening Press up onto the glass to maintain all of our privacy. We couldn't see each other, never mind the neighbours.

I was writing a lot of poetry then, handwritten in thier first draft and then typed up on an old clickety clack typewriter. Even so, I liked to handwrite the title, it seemed more personal. I don't know what the poem is about, I lost all of my output from the mid-'80's to the mid-'90's. I'd love to get it back now, this tantalizing glimpse is all I have. The words beneath the image were actually written while the original poem was still in my possession. ironic!

Astounding that someone went to all that trouble of finding a 'fridge out of order' sign, then finding an old post-it note with the word 'PUMP' written on it, crossing that out and writing 'toilet' in small letters underneath, then sellotaping the post-it note in a STUPID location.

Wouldn't it have been easier just to handwrite 'toilet out of order' on a piece of paper instead?

Meet John Vallance, principal of Sydney Grammar School, here photographed (detail) by Brad Hunter, for The Weekend Australian newspaper, March 26, 2016, front page.

Dr Vallance says the billions of dollars spent on computers in Australian schools during the past seven years are a "scandalous waste of money", Natasha Bita writes.

Ms Bita says Sydney Grammar "has banned students from bringing laptops to school, even in the senior years, and requires them to handwrite assignments and essays until Year 10."

Dr Vallance is reported as saying that laptops had "introduced a great deal of slackness" in teaching. "It's made it much easier of giving the illusion of having prepared a lesson."

Sydney Grammar is one of Australia's top schools. It has a computer lab, which students are free to use.

Inspired by 'The Raven,' by Edgar Allen Poe, this artist's book transforms the poem into a three-dimensional form. 'Nevermore' takes select lines from the respected work and handwrites them onto a curled scroll. The text is crafted to create symbolic feathers and is accompanied by drawings of birds. Sitting in a domed cage, the verses are trapped; the edge of the scroll is slipping through the wired bars escaping into the viewer's space.
