Photographed in Northfield Minnesota

Friday June 11th 2021

This lovely group of people went to DRH the semester before I did, but paid us a visit to rehearse over a weekend, and ended up performing a concert for us sunday night.

I FINALLY GOT EXPLORED!!! WOOHOOOOO!

Black backdrop , with two phottix DGS150 flash heads (and softboxes) 1 infront of subjects to the left at eye level, the second behind subjects facing outwards towards backbround and hair, high an pointing down. SB600 on camera flashing straight at subjects.

Edited slightly using photoshop! a slight skin blur , no colour enhancements at all! Have noticed though that the music sheets are upside down!!! must have been from when Elin & Llyr were chucking their music in the air on their fun shoot :)

Meet Pat. Pat is on the committee at the Pétanque club in Hove. She was telling me what a good sport it is for meeting up with people on an individual basis and in the fresh air.

Sokol, an all-age athletic organization, was first founded in Prague in 1862. It was based upon the principle of “a strong mind in a sound body.” The movement soon spread across all the regions populated by Slavic cultures. The word “Sokol” means falcon, a symbol of freedom among Slavs at the time. There were local and regional Sokol events yearly, called Slets, with huge “All-Sokol” national and even international Slets at longer intervals.

Sokol developed and thrived during the heyday of postcards, the late 19th and early 20th century. Hundreds of postcards, many designed by famous artists of the era, were produced as advertising and souvenirs for Sokol events. Gymnastics and calisthenics are central to the Sokol physical culture system, and Slets incorporate demonstrations and competitions of those activities, which are featured prominently on many of the postcards.

This occurred around 3:30 this afternoon at the intersection of Cobb Parkway (U.S. 41) and Akers Mill Road. I was driving on Cumberland Parkway, behind the mall, when a Cobb County Police car passed me like I was standing still. I made a left at Akers Mill and began the gentle rise up to Highway 41. In front of me I could see blue lights flashing at the top of the hill. Lots of blue lights blocking all but a single lane of this very wide road.

At the top of the rise I made a right into Barnes & Noble’s parking lot and made just a few exposures. There was an arrest in progress and at least half a dozen police cruisers on site. I heard the booming voice of one of the officers asking an occupant(s?) of a vehicle to exist the vehicle with their hands up. A tall woman did just that and was arrested. No added force was needed or used.

Holi (Hindi: होली, Nepali: होली, Punjabi: ਹੋਲੀ Sindhi: هولي) is a religious spring festival celebrated by Hindus as a festival of colours.

It is primarily observed in India and Nepal. It is also observed by the minority Hindus in Bangladesh and Pakistan as well in countries with large Indic diaspora populations following Hinduism, such as Suriname, Malaysia, Guyana, South Africa, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, the United States, Mauritius, and Fiji.

Holi is also known as Phagwah (Assamese: ফাকুৱা), Festival of Colours, or Doḷajātra (Oriya: ଦୋଳଯାତ୍ରା) in Odisha, and as Dol Jatra (Bengali: দোলযাত্রা) or Basantotsav ("spring festival") (Bengali: বসন্তোৎসব) in West Bengal and Assam.

Holi is of particular significance in the Braj region, which includes locations traditionally connected to the Lord Krishna: Mathura, Vrindavan, Nandagaon, and Barsana, which become tourist destinations during the season of Holi.[1]

As per the Hindu calendar, Holi is celebrated on the Phalguna Purnima which comes in February or March in the Gregorian Calendar.
