I bought this early hand built brass model recently. It is un-restored, but runs very well. These early hand built models are extremely rare, with only a handful in the world, for me, they are an exciting find for my collection. This model is unmarked, therefore, I am not sure who the maker was, but, I suspect it was made by Tetsudo or Kawai Models sometime between 1950 and 1955. (Sorry for the bad photos, these were the best I could get using my iphone).

The Owl Vase from Tuesday and the start of the oval vase tonights work

Some shots of the Big Boy after reassembly and repairs. The paint was the biggest issue with this model. Other than some small items that needed re-soldering, the only thing I had to do was get rid of the awful paint. Unfortunately, I couldn't save the original factory paint, a shame, but, at some point it will be painted again to appear just as it did from the maker. This is engine #5 of just 25 made between 1955 and 1957.

Now being handbuilt again in the UK using classic geometries and Reynolds tubing...probably linked to success of Eroica events but, still nice to see.

Stunning bike. No brand. Handbuilt. Will consider letting it go.

Handbuilt ceramic nativity figures from Mexico.

Lots of machining going on here, trying to save a bit of weight. A little thinner than crowns I've made for customers, but hey, it's my bike.

I finished building him at last evenings class...Unfortunately .. in moving him his foot cracked .

After disassembling and cleaning the parts of this early handbuilt Tenshodo model (1955-1957), I find that the smoke units that were installed some 60 years ago, still work like new. This model is very rare, and somewhat unique in the fact that only 25 were built between 1955 and 1957. It has excellent detail for such an early model, however, still only has the rear drivers powered, indicating it's manufacture date of between 1955 and 1958, however, the 1958 run was marked as "Signature Model", while this one is not. This model is stamped #5 on several of the large parts. It was also equipped with working lights at either end and a red light under the fire box to simulate the glow from a hot fire box. Amazing work was done by these early brass craftsman. Coincidentally, there were only 25 of the prototype Big Boy engines produced between 1941 and 1944, of which, only 8 survive. Engine 4014 is currently under restoration to full operation by the Union Pacific Historical Society.
