My husband and I were just about ready to leave this park when we decided to take one more ride through! As we rode along the road we saw this beauty sitting in a tree! The sun had already set but there was enough light to capture this image! I lightened the photo and edited it a bit! I am happy the way the photo came out considering the light!

Hammonasset Beach State Park

Really an afterthought of a shot I took from my car window. Cold down there this morning, but not unbearable. Waiting for the NEXT round of snow.

I am still hoping to get some star / constellation shots for the "Night Sky" challenge this week. In the meantime, here are some shots of last month's full blood moon rising. You can see an airplane to the left of the moon.

Sony a7rII with Leica Tri-Elmar 16-18-21 with 10-stop neutral density filter, 60 second exposure....

 

I went back to the Hamonasset State Park Butterfly Gardens for another session, and there were a lot of Monarchs fluttering around sharing nicely.

Cold, but that's how winter goes in these parts.

These escapees have established populations along the Connecticut shoreline.

People might have thought I was crazy laying prone on the sand photographing these birds.

It took a few shots to get this one...

Alas, I don't get out at night often enough to have gotten the hang of focusing in low light. So this shot isn't exactly tack-sharp! But I was lucky in my location - the moon came up at just the right place.
