Hi guys, I need your help with something. What do you think I should post? Drawings, customs, builds, or all three? One thing you will be seeing a lot soon is little lego builds like the soda machine i made when I first joined Flickr, I really enjoy building silly stuff like that and you guys seem to like it because it came second on my most popular photos list. So other than that what do you wanna see? Please halp.
*pic is not mine
Sorry if I forgot to add you :P
Our male Persian cat, "Sheroo" wasn't particularly amused after his visit to the vet's. He doesn't like road trips either.
Photo captured in the car's backseat shortly before driving off home.
So I have been working on a new spartan armor set, yet I'm bored with the standard blue-white and Red-black color scheme I've been working with. So could you people's on the Interwebs help me pick a base color please... I'm drained. Tell me if you'd like me to stick with what I've got
Does anyone remember I got bit by a tick in the beginning of June? Probably not, since that was the day we had a 3 mile long discussion about something completely different. :P
Anyhoo. My little tick rash didn't disappear as the days went by, in fact it slowly grew. Since I'm pretty much the opposite of a hypochondriac, I thought "whatever, let it grow a bit bigger so the doctors won't just brush me off". Yesterday I decided that the time was right for some action - the rash was now about 3-4 times the size as it was the first week.
So I call the local clinic, and miraculously get an appointment the day after. That is, today. The doctor's name is Andreas, which is typically an intern's name (someone young) so I'm thinking "Oh drat". Maybe I should appreciate young, male doctors, but I don't think it's particularly hot to seek help for lyme disease. :P
When I arrive at the clinic, it's definitely an intern who greets me and he's most definitely hot. Awkwardness galore. Well, it didn't last for long, because he took one look at my rash and said "well, yeah, I think it's borrelia actually. I'll mail a prescription for antibiotics." And I'm like, "ok, that was quick and painless, aren't you going to run some tests?" (Yes, I am STUPID) Then I see a gleam in the corner of his eye, and he seems totally up for it and YEAH WHY NOT! So I look at him kind of quizically, "Ok, does that mean we need to run some tests, or are they just for shits and giggles?" He says they are good for "scientific research". So I'm basically volunteering as a guinea pig this afternoon, great!
Now look. You can vaccinate me all you want, I don't love needles but it's not a phobia. Send me to the dentist once a week, I don't care. But stay away from my blood, you vampires! When I was a kid, I had to do blood tests pretty often, and since my veins were thin, they always had to prick me several times. My arms were blue all over and I fainted every time. It was horrible. Sometimes they missed the vein and had to do it yet again.
So, I asked the needle guy to NOT use my arms but rather prick me in the finger, if possible. He wasn't particularly pleased, but he was even less pleased at the prospect of a 5'10 woman fainting at his feet, so.
Of course I asked if I could take pictures!
Then they pricked me in three fingers, and the ring fingers that they used first, were MANGLED for blood. I mean, OW! I could hear the bones in my finger crack! I was about to tell him my finger was in fact not an udder, but it didn't seem like he'd appreciate my input. He also muttered to the nurse that there was a "bad flow", and I felt a desperate urge to crack jokes about my lame rapping skillz, but he didn't look like he'd appreciate that either. When he put bandaids on my fingers, they were still all bloody (WIPE first plz?) and he also didn't put the bandaid where he pricked me, but just wherever on the finger.
Since I was already being drained for no particular reason at all except that it would be "scientifically interesting" for the intern hunk, I thought I might as well get something out of it, and asked if they could check my blood levels. The nurse said ok, "but you need a recommendation from the doctor". I was like, WHY? The machine is there, my finger is here, blood is everywhere, it takes 1 minute? But oook, whatever.
I walk back to hunk intern's office, and say knock-knock, andreas, can I have a blood level test plz? He tilts his head like aaaw, are you feeling poorly? Headaches? Dizziness? So I lie and say yes, because "No, I'm super! I just want a blood test bonus and use the kewl machine!" would sound inappropriate. From a grown woman. So he clicks away on his computer to RECOMMEND a blood test to the room that is like 8 meters away. Oook.
I go back, say "Ok, I have a recommendation now" and the nurse looks at the screen and pouts. "It says he recommended an IRON level test here. Then we have to draw blood from your arm, and we can't do that today." I say that's alright, I just want a Hgb test, plz? "But it SAYS here that it should be an IRON level test". Well, but only because I said so?? Or I said "blood level test" and my doctor interpreted it as a test of my iron level. Come on, work with me here, past the semantics.
So finally I get my Hgb test, and it comes out as 67 (or 6.7). Nurse freaks out. She tries again, it comes out as 87 (or 8.7). She freaks out again. "I have to prick you again, this can't be right". Sure enough, my hemoglobin stats come out as 137 - 13.7 - at long last. Which is super duper normal. Nurse tapped my blood very neatly, wiped very neatly and put bandaid on just right. THANK YOU!
So. I have borrelia, or lyme disease. I have to take antibiotics for ten days, but it could be worse. At least my blood is in good shape otherwise. :P

How could I not take a picture?
(p.s. how sweet is it that I'm the only one with the 'bondage squirrel' tag?)
HALP! I need to raise funds to both pay down a truly massive gas bill AND also to finnace a potential jaunt to NY for to meet up with comics people at MoCCA!
So.....ummm $300 or make me an offer on this oil on glass painting?
I feel weird posting this.
Whipped this up in Photoshop.
I know, I know, size error.
Sudowoodo is, like, huge, and a Growlithe is, like, two feet tall.
WAH
Guys, I'm SO sorry for my lack of uploading! There is a reason for it though, if you follow me on instagram or facebook you've probably read it already. I've been sick and I overused my wrist. So I'm taking meds and need lots of rest.. So don't expect any uploads soon. :(
I'm using a disposable film camera right now, because my dslr is too heavy to hold for me right now. And I'm also still really busy with the assignments for the admission to the art school that I'm attending to. So my attention goes fully to recovering and the art school admission. Meh.

1.Download your lol from ichc
a.On www.icanhascheezburger.com go to your lol's page (eg. this one is mine.icanhascheezburger.com/view.aspx?ciid=3948250)
b.Highlight the title of the lol (the text above it) and copy it
(you don't have to do this - I just find it makes it easier to title the lol in flickr – we're doing it here so we can easily use the title as the filename)
c.Right click on the lol pic
d.Choose [Save Image As...] from resulting drop down menu
e.In the Save Image window that pops up, choose the directory on your computer you want to save the lol to
f.Paste the title of the lol in the filename field
g.Click [Save]
h.Repeat for all the lols you want on flickr
i.Your lol is saved on your computer!
1a. An alternative way to save your lol
If you've screencapture software (eg. MW Snap) you could capture the lol and details underneath it to fully credit loller and picture - see stilskweekz (peregrin)'s example here.
2.Log on to www.flickr.com
a.Log on to www.flickr.com (whole other story to join - lemme know if you want a how-to for that!)
3.Upload your lol
a.There's a series of links at the top of the page - [home] [you] [organise] etc - select [You]
b.Select [Upload Photos and Videos] from the pulldown menu
c.I've had a couple of different pages come up in response but they're all similar
d.This bit should be straightforward, but just in case ... Click on [Choose Photos and Videos]
e.Go to the directory you saved the lol(s) in
f.In the resulting Select Files etc window you can select just one file at a time or, if you've several in the same directory you can select individual ones using [Ctrl] or a block using [Shift] when you click on the lol
g.Click on [Open]
h.Your lol or list of lols should be shown on the flickr page
i.Set the privacy using the toggle buttons
j.Click on [Upload Photos and Videos]
k.You'll now get options to add titles, tags, etc. or you might have to click on a [description] button (it varies when I visit it!)
l.When you're done click the Save button
m.Now your lols are added to flickr!
4.Add you lol to a pool
a.If you look at the individual lols you've just added (go to [You]/[Your Photostream] and click on the lol) you'll see they have options directly above them - [Add Note] [Send to Group] [Add to Set] etc. Select [Send to Group] and you'll get a pulldown menu of the groups you're a member of.
b.Select the group/pool you want to add your lol to.
c.You're done!
If you're going to be uploading a lot of pics onto flickr you might like to try their uploading software – it lets you set up descriptions, titles and tags on your own computer before you upload. I find it very useful. www.flickr.com/photos/upload/basic/
Note: you need to be a member of a group/pool to add lols/pics to it.
I use the lol title for the flickr title and add 'by muriell' for mine, or credit who did the lol if it wasn't me.
Tags: I use 'ichc' for everything from ichc and the name of the loller. If you want to use a tag with more than one word, eg. 'animal rights' you need to put quotes around it. Tags make it easier for other people to find pics they're interested in so it's good manners to add tags.
Description: I try and credit whoever took or uploaded the picture in the description - apart from that it's up to you!
Think that's it. Please feel free to add any clarfications - or ask for them - below.
Hope this halps!!
Kthxbye.
Or rather, "Tiny Robot, halp, halp, HALP!"
It is hard to tell by Tabitha the Robot's facial expression if he is the one who put Mackerel on the grill, or if he is coming to save her from the grill.
They are known to be friends, so we guess it is the latter.
Is mackerel even something that is commonly barbecued? Does anyone know?
We suppose you can barbecue anything really. Including mackerel. And Mackerel.
Working on a chibi mesh avatar with changeable emote eyes & mouth... I'm just demonstrating it from Maya using transparency sliders from the material shader.
ALSO HALP~!
I need scripts to bring this type of feature into SL though. So anyone who knows where I can get scripts to use in a HUD for this PLEASE either IM here or throw a notecard at me in SL. My sl name is "Kei Ushimawa"... Or if you guys know any skilled scripters who are available for commision, that'll be great too. :3
Supreme Power
Franklin Roosevelt vs. the Supreme Court
April 14, 2010, 12:00pm – 1:00pm

Scholars are asking the same questions about the role of the Supreme Court today as they were back in President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s time when he tried to expand the Supreme Court and stack it with his supporters: “Was it the judge’s role to essentially pass on the wisdom of economic legislation? Or was it the judges’ role to essentially … let Congress do what it felt needed to be done to advance the general welfare?” Author Jeff Shesol posed these questions at a CAP event last Wednesday about his new book Supreme Power: Franklin Roosevelt vs. The Supreme Court. Shesol was joined by Dahlia Lithwick, senior editor at Slate, on a panel moderated by John Halpin, Senior Fellow at CAP.
Halpin summarized the book as a three-act drama of the stability of democracy itself. “One is a decades-long ideological battle between competing world views about government, the economy, and the Constitution,” he said, “the second is how this ideological battle plays out politically in relation to the Court in the 1930s. And then there’s the third act that’s a little more implied, which is what’s the long-term legacy of this battle, both ideologically and politically for the New Deal and for…debates about the Court and jurisprudence throughout the 20th century,” Halpin explained.
The Supreme Court shot down each item on President Roosevelt’s New Deal agenda beginning in 1935. The impoverished social and economic situation meant that violent revolution was a real threat in the United States by late 1936 and early 1937. President Roosevelt was looking for a solution that was “constitutional, and that was quick and that would be effective,” Shesol said. Nowhere in the Constitution does it mandate the number of seats on the Supreme Court, so President Roosevelt decided to expand the Court to 15 judges and pack it with liberals. His plan failed, split the Democratic Party, and transformed the American constitutional landscape.
“When we think about the Court-packing plan we have an idea that the Court was way out of line. That it was striking down good, good laws,” Lithwick said. “No, these were well-intentioned laws, but…it’s not the case…they were horrified by the really very quick…one after another churning out legislation,” she explained.
But by 1936, “the Court has covered the constitutional landscape and has knocked down not only laws that were sloppily drafted, but laws that were exceedingly carefully drafted,” Shesol said. The Court decided with sweeping opinions to “pre-emptively overrule any such legislation in the future” so President Roosevelt came to believe that no matter how legislation was drafted, it was the justices themselves who would prevent the advance of anything he tried to do, Shesol added.
President Roosevelt thought the Constitution “was a very flexible instrument” and that the doctrines used to strike down the New Deal were obsolete, Shesol explained. Yet it’s evident in the conservative justices’ letters that they “believe [President] Roosevelt is centralizing power in his own hands” and both the Court and [President] Roosevelt viewed this constitutional argument as one about the survival of democracy and believed that a dictatorship would rise out of the ashes of failure, Shesol said.
The competing ideologies of constitutional formalism versus the notion of an elastic, living constitution have as much of an effect on legislative decisions today as they did in President Roosevelt’s day. Lithwick described the book as “manna from heaven” because of its timeliness in the current discussion of “jurisprudential theories and originalism” evolving around President Barack Obama’s decision to criticize the Supreme Court’s Citizens United ruling in his State of the Union address. “Eighty percent of the public hated the Citizens United decision,” she said. Clearly, the Court is “way out of whack” with public opinion.
Even today’s linguistic framework for conversations about the Supreme Court and presidential powers have not evolved much from the 1930s. Organic law and theories of evolution are still used to defend the living Constitution argument, versus constitutional formalism’s “language about how the constitution is set in stone, how it’s sort of oracular, and how it’s divine and this notion that the constitution is the secular Ten Commandments, it’s immutable, it doesn’t change,” Lithwick said.
There is a “perfect alignment between one’s economic views and one’s constitutional views in this way,” Shesol added. “If you believed that reform was essential…you tended to see the necessity to have the constitution … evolve with our understanding of contemporary realities. If you were pretty comfortable with the established order…you tended to be drawn to a kind of jurisprudence…that really had no room for these wild social experiments,” he said.
The prevailing Court model right now is to be an umpire with “the language of constraint” and do as little as possible so that you don’t appear to support more presidential power, Lithwick lamented. “We happen to be in a sort of trough right now in history where to talk about the idea that the Constitution seeks to protect minorities or seeks to protect the underprivileged is to look reckless,” she said. It has also become somewhat taboo to challenge the finite nature of the Constitution and insist that it’s a living document that should fit the times.
Conservatives have dominated the conversation on the Constitution for the last couple of decades, and we need to hear progressives assert their points of view, Shesol said. “What [President] Roosevelt understood and what he constantly reiterated is that this argument between these two notions of the Constitution goes back to the nation’s founding…and so [President] Roosevelt made this argument with a sense of supreme self-confidence that he was true to the intentions of the founders,” Shesol continued, “And we have somehow—on the progressive side—allowed the conservatives…to get away with the argument that the founders were universally in favor of smaller, weaker government, and state’s rights and so forth…and [President] Roosevelt didn’t believe that. I don’t imagine President Obama believes it either but it would be useful thing to hear him say forcefully.”
The two moments in time are very similar, but the key difference is that now we don’t have “a full-fledged coherent” progressive view of the Constitution, Lithwick said. This is a much more “one-sided view of the Constitution…but this is a moment where the president has decided to take on the Court” with Citizens United, she explained. Yet his argument against the decision has been a pragmatic one—that this decision can open up our elections to foreign interests—rather than a constitutional argument, despite the fact that he’s a constitutional professor.
“[President] Roosevelt was defending a whole set of policies that saved the country, that saved capitalism, created a modern social welfare system and renewed the concept of equal opportunity,” Halpin said. “Perhaps part of the problem today is that the issues outside of, say, the health bill, don’t seem as pressing.”

In most of the rest of the world a dolphin is viewed with appreciation and admiration
In most of the world when Pilot whales are stranded on the beaches, human rush to the shores to assist them and to halp return them to the sea.
In the Faroes. the people deliberately strand the whales and others rush to the beach to stab, slash and spear them.
In most of the world people view a dying dolphin with sadness. In the Faroes they cheer and laugh and celebrate as dolphins cream in agony and convulse in horrific pain.
Even in the notorious Taiji massacres, the Japanese have the good grace to not laugh and cheer.
In most of the world, tourists are encouraged to enjoy their visits and to see the beauty of the culture of the country they are visiting. When they see dolphins they take pictures. In the Faroes, tourists are legally obligated to report a sighting of dolphins or whales to the whalers.
In most of the world tourists can appreciate and admire the dolphins that they but in the Faroes they must participate in delivering the death sentence to the dolphins that they see.
In most of the world, people respect and admire compassion. In the Faroes, compassion is a crime.
In most of the world meat that is contaminated with mercury, chemicals and other heavy metals is banned from consumption. In the Faroes they take pride in feeding toxic and tainted meat to their children.
In most of the world children walk in the park, make sand castles on the beach or draw pictures of dolphins. In the Faroes children poke out the eyes of Pilot whales and pose for pictures sitting on bloody corpses.
In most of the world people view dolphins and whales as highly intelligent, self aware, socially complex sentient beings. In the Faroes all they see is meat.
The only country in the world where the National Airline is used to spot and report dolphins to be slaughtered. The only country in the world where the Navy is used to defend the killing of whales and dolphins. The only country in the world where it is a crime to not report whales to the people who kill them. The only country in the world that says that whales and dolphins are a "gift from God" delivered to the people for them to kill. The only country in the world where children are encouraged to mutilate dead animals for fun. The only country in the world where people laugh, cheer, get drunk and applaud as their knives rip open the flesh of their victims, as their blood spurts into the sea and men, women and children literally bathe in blood as some sort of perverse expression of national culture.
Sea Shepherd has received new photographs and video footage of the slaughter of 61 pilot whales on the killing beach of Sandavágur on August 12 ,2015
The evidence indicates that there were a large number of pregnant and young whales in the pod. Photographs also show that a number of the whales had blotched skin, indicating they were diseased.
A vet, who was on the ground after the slaughter when the whales were being butchered, was told by a local that whales with blotched skin were “no good.”
