Shipping boxes, and two boxes full of paper I don't know what to do with! I have to do something with them, they're important. But I just keep shuffling them around.

The Flat Rate box on the left: One of the cats uses it to scratch on and another one sleeps on it while I'm in here at night working. I didn't have the heart to get rid of them!

2014-03-16 Sichtbar werden mit Folie Gradinger, Fussball Niederösterreich, Regionalliga Ost, Admira Amateure vs SV Stegersbach - Ergebnis 3:1 (0:1), Spielbericht, Schiedsrichter Mag. Matthias Thal, Photografer Bernhard Mössner, Bilderdatenbank Fotoblitz hier klicken

One of the many municipal publications issued by UK local authorities during the mid-20th Century intended to describe the services, industries and amenities of the borough. This, from 1929 and issued by the County Borough of Bolton in industrial Lancashire, is one that is firmly aimed at attempting to introduce the town to perspective investors as well as imparting information to the town's residents.

As usual the descriptive text is interspersed with adverts for many local manufacturers and undertakings. Two adverts appear here; one of the local Municipal Technical College and the other for the clog manufacturers of Edwin Lee Ltd.

Bolton's Technical College was typical of those institutions that were set up to halp educate and provide training for the wide range of industrial and commercial activities that a Northern industrial town offered and for which highly a skilled workforce was required. As can be seen the Textile Department was particularly valued with a wide range of courses and quite an impressively equipped practical spinning and weaving section. The fees are quite high; the Corporation made a big point of providing a wide range of free scholarships that encompassed these courses. I suspect at the time the majority of these courses would have been 'manned' by the boys - as I recall from my family background in Lancashire women were usually expected to do the donkey work in spinning and weaving although my mother did make it into textile design through the municipal Art School in Rochdale this being seen as more 'appropriate'.

Clogs are footwear so associated with industrial Lancashire we almost forget that they were for centuries the common footware of most workers, industrial or agricultural, and most towns had cloggers or clog makers. Edwin Lee Ltd. was founded in c1857 and by 1929 they were claiming that the Crown Street Clog Works were the largest in the world making the "Elephant & Castle" brand of clogs. I suspect the elephant element comes from the Borough's coat of arms with the castle being a convienent addition!

a LOLcat I made of my old roommate's cat.

Sadie has a Midnight Spell scalp but its too long for me. I prefer shorter styles on my Blythe girls.

I pinned her hair up for this pic so it's pretty awful but she looks so cute with shorter hair!

But I don't know what to do!

I adore the scalp. The colour is perfect and the bangs are perfect. It is just too long.

So should I cut it? It seems a shame to as its a lovely scalp.

But I can't really afford to buy another Blythe at the moment to get the scalp. I was thinking of a Saffy or a Frosty Frock. But I heard they can be difficult to get the scalps off those so I am scared of doing that too.

Halp!!

What can anyone suggest?

Oh god they're closing in.

I was instructed to take these.. just started on 'em last night. Bovine adrenals.¹ Mmmm. According to the super-awesome intuitive healer Julie Walker that I talked to, my adrenal glands have been weak since birth. She went on to explain how this has affected everything in my life, though she probably didn't need to--it immediately clicked..it makes so much sense.

Sunny: Halp!! This isn't fun anymore. I can't get down!!

Last Thursday..

I took Sunny along to check out a neat little spot I had found in the past while walking around waiting for a dentist appoint time. Sunny on such a sunny day we headed out after my appointment. After finding the great Oxbow park. We then went to the neat place we planned on seeing. This little spot isn't an official park that I know of. Someone turned it into a fun spot for toys and toy lovers.
