For one night only, and to celebrate the final weekend of Rudy’s Rare Records, Hackney Empire morphed into the late and great Four Aces reggae club. Featuring legendary DJ Newton Dunbar (founding manager of the Four Aces), and Tighten Up Crew selector Mistah Brown and MC Champian.

Peter and I were looking for the entrance to the canal in East London when we found the Hackney City Farm. We saw donkeys, sheep, pigs and chicken there. The cafe was quite busy; we may go back some day.

A "bendybus" on Route 38 - bound for Clapton Pond - passes the unusual Hackney Central railway station sign.

This is one of a series of photographs taken on Sunday 7th June 2009 whilst on a brief bicycle ride along the towpath beside the Regents / Grand Union Canal. These were taken along the section which runs from Mare Street , Hackney / Cambridge Heath Road ... along the southern perimeter of Victoria Park ... south alongside Mile End Park ... and onwards to the Marina at Limehouse.

Along a grimy mews was an architect's office. Out back was this garden and the view of the Hackney houses. The contrast of the greenery and the old homes really appealed to me.

Hackney Wick, London E9, is a run-down industrial area on the borders of the London Boroughs of Hackney,Tower Hamlets and Newham; which was once little-known outside the immediate vicinity and rarely visited by outsiders. However it lies just a stone's throw from the Olympic Park and now being revitalised by artists and creative enterprises.

I like the railings aound the roof. A photo of the building here previously will appear shortly.
