We took a day-long tour around Cat Ba Island/Ha Long Bay. This place is ridiculously photogenic. Let me assure my friends, yes, this is still Earth, and yes, it is real. Somehow.
Along the way the guides took us to one of the floating home/floating fish farms. They live in little shacks on the water and keep fish in nets lowered in the water. The guides said there's over 2000 people living this way in the area. Other than being on the water, it looks like any other low-wage village around here, complete with dogs corner stores, etc.
Oh, and it turns out this is the time of year to come! Weather was great and the place was not busy. We had the entire boat to ourselves!
Ha'il is relatively cooler being at higher altitude. It was the home of the Al Rashid, the former rulers of the Arabian peninsula. The Al Rashid were allies of the Ottomans and were vanquished by the Al Saud.

No visit to Vietnam is complete without witnessing the natural spectacle of Ha Long Bay, with its countless islands rising dramatically from the sea. a boat trip through these towering rocky sentinels is an unforgettable experience!
Sadly we weren't blessed with the best of weather, it staying fairly dull and overcast for most of our trip, but the sight of the awe-inspiring natural rock formations surrounding us were more than enough compensation for the subdued light.
A-ha rocked the place... of course, along with their newer stuff, they did 'Take on Me', 'Hunting High and Low', 'The Living Daylights' and 'The Sun Always Shines on TV'

The Ha'penny Bridge (Irish: Droichead na Leathphingine), known later for a time as the Penny Ha'penny Bridge, and officially the Liffey Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge built in 1816 over the River Liffey in Dublin, Ireland. Made of cast-iron, the bridge was cast at Coalbrookdale in Shropshire
Before the Ha'penny Bridge was built there were seven ferries, operated by a William Walsh, across the Liffey. The ferries were in a bad condition and Walsh was informed that he had to either fix them or build a bridge. Walsh chose the latter option and was granted the right to extract a ha'penny toll from anyone crossing it for 100 years.[citation needed] Initially the toll charge was based, not on the cost of construction, but to match the charges levied by the ferries it replaced. A further condition of construction was that, if the citizens of Dublin found the bridge and toll to be "objectionable" within its first year of operation, it was to be removed at no cost to the city. The toll was increased for a time to a Penny Ha'penny (one and a half pence), but was eventually dropped in 1919. While the toll was in operation, there were turnstiles at either end the bridge.
