Photographs in a temporary exhibit of childrens toys at Dover Museum taken in August 2009.
This is a large Victorian model of a gyspy caravan of the Reading style with traditional hand painted and carved details.
Only very special pieces get my "rockstar" designation. These are items that I imagine would be worn by the lavish hedonistic rockstars of the romantic steam powered era, if there had ever been such a thing. So, if you've packed your steam-powered guitar and are heading out on a time-traveling trip in either direction, this is the hair piece to pack!
This hair clip is made from a sunset tone rose, slightly smaller than a full bloom rose, which I adorned with crystal jewels. The rose leaves also have little green jewels attached, which layer on top of deep green and copper feathers and a richly embroidered peacock feather.
All of this is sturdily mounted on a full sized hair comb, and designed to secure comfortably to your hairdo without falling out or shifting around, without any additional clips or pins.
This hair piece is ready made and just waiting to be shipped to you! This piece was designed to be sturdy enough for use as a belly dancer's accessory, but would also make a stunning addition to your formal event outfit, a steampunk or roaring 20's costume or for wearing around town to create a traffic-stopping jaw-dropping trail of captivated people in your wake.
Seasoned Flower Pots for Baking Bread.
I seasoned these flower pots today to use for some artisan breadmaking. I found an old recipe for Gyspy Bread which uses them.
The new flower pots are seasoned by brushing them with oil and baking them at 160 deg C for 45 mins. This must be done 3 times and then they are fully seasoned for baking purposes.
Once seasoned, they become a lot darker and smoother and repel moisture.
Gypsy Bread shots to follow.
Sibuan Island is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful island we visited during Island Photo Safari 16-18 sept 2011. Ideal for snorkelers and divers alike, with white sand beaches. This island has a small population of friendly sea Bajau (sea gypsy)

Abstract Series 174 - Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band
Genre: Circus Noise, Instrumental Menagerie, Gyspy Steamfunk
Description: Formed from the most talented deadbeats and drifters that could be rounded up, this group of raucous and rambunctious musicians will honk, wail, blow, beat, bounce, scream and serenade their way into your hearts. Playing anything that won’t break after vigorous use; their instrumentation is a unique blend of brass, winds, violin, accordion, percussion and an eclectic rhythm section. Emperor Norton's Stationary Marching Band combines the rich musical history of the circus and the vagabond peoples of Europe with the raw energy of avant-garde jazz and the irreverence and fun of today's Vaudeville & Steampunk for a sound that is somehow familiar yet like no other. Label them anyway you like! Call them gypsy steamfunk, call them avant world fusion, call them experimental big band, call them circus noise! They may be tough to sum up, but it’s easy to tell you that they’ll show you a good time!
Biography: Before passing from this plane in 1880, Emperor Norton, I, revealed to his followers that he was no ordinary mortal man, but instead a manifestation of the absurd and unusual forces of the universe. He offered them the chance to follow him on his crusade to unsettle and disturb that which had become bland and banal. A grand parade ensued and continues on through time and space, bringing in its wake a glorious commotion that encourages all to join in the jubilation and make of this world what they will. ENSMB is the progeny of this bizarre cavalcade. They dance at the edge of reason, sing the song of society's fringe and drum out whatever din you are called to march to. Emperor Norton is not dead; he is waiting to be awakened in each of us.
Spreading their gospel of spontaneous creativity and rampant self-expression, ENSMB brings a passion and playfulness to the stage that challenges audiences to not just sit and watch the world around them, but instead rise up and join the show of life, in all its wondrous variety. With their festive and frolicking vibe, you better believe that ENSMB will have you not just dancing, but oohing and aahing over the musical feats you'll witness, and maybe even wishing that you too could run away and join the circus.
ENSMB has performed at events ranging from HONK! Fest (both in Somerville MA and Seattle WA) to the Salem Jazz & Soul Festival and the Steampunk World’s Fair. They often can be found collaborating with the Boston Circus Guild, as well as frequently sharing bills with a tight nit group of bands from the robust Boston music scene. 2011 will see the band performing at venues all across the Boston area, including Johnny D’s, Middle East Downstairs, Church, Lizard Lounge and Club Passim, traveling to New York City and Austin, TX, as well as performing at Steampunk events all over the Northeast.

I don’t know about you but I love to wander around! Get lost in hidden places off the beaten paths and you are almost always rewarded for such things! The secret spots, the unseen treasures, structures, green groves an ancient stones from lives past! The oceans old as time and the waves that beat against the shore as they have done for billions years’ time! “Not all who wander are lost” is one of my favorite Tolkien quotes ever! If you practice this sort of thing in your daily life then you understand it completely and you feel those words down to the depths of your soul! It may not seem so but I do very much love the sea! I love it when its quiet and that gets more difficult to find as warmer weather moves in! In winter its deserted and I enjoy that kind of solitude but sunrise is also a nice, quiet time, more so then say sunset when there are many others taking in the spectacular display of colors as well. That golden hour between dawn and sunrise is what I call “magic hour”. The air absolutely buzzes with everything waking up to begin a brand new day. It’s one of the most beautiful songs that nature can sing and a beautiful canvas in which to weave and create on! So wander on and breathe that wild gyspy air and no matter where your path takes you on your journeys, get lost in it and let it lead you to your higher consciousness, ever growing and forever WILD!

My biggest quilt top yet... a queen size scrappy version of Kaffe Fassett's Diagonal Madness. I can see this one hanging on the line of a gyspy wagon... This was a Leaders and Enders project that made a serious dent in my scraps!
