I noticed this guys tattoo’s while on the Independence march through Glasgow, and tried and tried to get a decent shot of his tattoo’s.

It was difficult due to them being around his neckline so this was the best I could get.

It doesn’t do them justice sadly…

Grahams final purchase of a brand new Guy Arab was this 1962 example with Johannesburg style body by Strachan. Seen here facing west at Paisley Cross, with Grants Furniture Warehouse occupying the old Glen Cinema in the background, and one of Grants furniture vans visible on the left.

From a collection purchased on e-bay. Photographer not known.

Guys just doing their thing at Bangkok Railway station. Not even looking for money, just having fun or passing the time until their train.

Ok guys , picture this……..

You wakeup on a classis boat , a 46ft Merritt sport fisher , decked out in beautiful teak from stem to stern , inside and out . You are surrounded by the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico about 100 miles off of the beaches of Destin Florida. You are with three good friends , your boss and the captain and mate , Chase and Chance .

Your journey began on the previous morning at daylight when you departed from Destin for a day of bottom fishing for grouper , amberjack , snapper and other gulf species. You have a wonderful day of fishing , and as evening approaches the crew sets the boat adrift and prepares for a long night of sword fishing . Three lines are set and after a dinner of grilled steaks and backed potatoes , the crew takes turns watching the lines through the night , with no luck ……

At 5:50am you wake and get your first cup of coffee, but before you can take your second sip , Chance yells FISH ON !!!!!! An the excrement begins ! You rush out onto the cockpit deck in time to see a 100+ pound swordfish grey hounding across the vibrant waters of the Gulf of Mexico straight into a beautiful fiery sunrise !

You jump into the fighting chair and take the rod and a epic battle begins ! After 30 minutes you have withstood one massive run and several more awesome jumps and regained some line ,when the brute on the other end of the line decides to take you to the bottom again……..50 minute into the fight you have him 30 yards from the boat and away he goes again ! One hour and fifteen minutes into the struggle the blue strobe light attached to the leader appears …. Chance grabs the leader and for the first time in over an hour you realize you are drenched with sweat and totally exhausted , but before Chance could get a wrap on the leader the fish pulled loose and made a sizzling run directly under the boat !!!!!!!! All of the excitement of the previous hour immediately evaporated as the rod tip jumped back and the line went limp ……………….. I look around for the first time in quite a while ,and everyone looked as though they had just lost their best friend !

I was left tired and wet , and with a smile from ear to ear!!!

Move forward two weeks and the guys arrived in Mississippi for the opening of our archery season on Oct 1st . I always give 100% when I have guest , I really wanted these guys to do good , but with only 3 days until the full moon it was going to be tough and require a fair amount of luck …

On the first morning Capt. Chase harvested a mature doe and the remaining hunters saw several deer and pigs , but with no shot opportunities . With afternoon deer activity almost non existence I placed Chase in a funnel between a bedding area and a large field that the deer use frequented . I instructed him not to shot any does in this area , and that several nice bucks had been seen recently using this trail .

I left him about 2:30 and spent the afternoon scouting for the coming days . After a long day the radio finely cracked at about 6:55.…… It was Chase !!!!!!!!

When I arrived he told of seeing several does and a couple of small bucks , all of witch walked right under his stand ! He also had observed a large bob cat , which had played on a log mere yards away !

Then he told me what I wanted to hear ……. “He was way out past his ears!….. I made a good shot ! ……And I heard him crash right over there!!!!!!!! “

Oh did I mention that he had a new bow a new stand and that this was his first bow killed buck!!!!!!!

The Deer- a main frame 9 point with an 18 4/8 inside spread, 24 4/8 and 23 5/8 beams and the g2s were 12 and 11 and the g3s were 9inches…….. His gross green score is 151BC and he had a live weight of 238 pounds

Thanks again guys for all the great hunting and fishing memories!!!!!

kirchner museum, davos, 1992, architect: guyer gigon

'The Kirchner Museum Davos was the first large commission to be realised by Annette Gigon and Mike Guyer. It is now seen as a pioneering example of a new understanding of museum architecture, combining functionality and aesthetics, intrinsic architectural value and service to art in a remarkable way.

Taking their point of departure from local conditions (climate, light, flat-roofed Davos architecture), but above all from considerations about an ideal encounter of viewer and artwork, the architects designed four cubes (the exhibition halls) linked by a branched foyer with wide facade windows as a space for reflection and repose. The foyer also offers a view of the Alpine landscape which so inspired Kirchner’s Swiss work.

There is a skylight above each hall which evenly distributes the multiply filtered daylight into the spaces through its lateral glass facades. The basement contains the museum’s office and service spaces.

Gigon / Guyer used glass, concrete, steel and wood to create a crystalline building reduced to essentials; but in their extremely sensitive combination of these materials they also achieved subtle and complex architectural formulations which transform the deliberate simplicity of the museum’s exterior and interior into a built equivalent of the expressive power of Ernst Ludwig Kirchner’s art.'

I certainly would like to have known what was behind that door, but the door itself was behind this counter area so I probably couldn't sneak back in there without being scolded.

Originally a photojournalist, Guy Tillim has spent a large part of his career documenting social conflict in Africa for media agencies including Reuters and Agence France-Presse.

Of his project Avenue Patrice Lumumba Tillim explains, “Modernist architecture was the hook on which I hung the project, but it is not about that architecture – it’s not a survey. Rather, these were the places that I had got to know while working as a photojournalist; I had always been struck by the bizarre stage that they provided.”

Yesterday it was a spiky Mohawk. Today it is gelled flat. Interesting to see what the new neighbor does with it in the days and weeks to come.

This fine 1952 East Lancs bodied 8ft wide Guy Arab 3 /6LW, stants waiting for custom, whilst being overtaken by a late fifties Austin Luton type van.

BCN had a mioxed double deck fleet of Leylands and Guys. Wherever this occured drivers tended to prefer the Leylands The Gardner 6LW engine and crash box of the Guy, not being as powerful as Leyland's 0600 and synchromesh box.

At the time, this Massey bodied Guy Arab was the only double decker in the Warstone Motors fleet. From memory YTH 815 had been new to Rees & Williams of Tycroes, South Wales, and is seen here with a Bedford SB which also carried a south Walian registration mark. The fibreglass moulding treatment of the bonnet assembly was referred to as a 'Johannesburg front' as such a design had been supplied to that city by Guy.
