I met this guide in Sri Lanka in January 2019, he was very interesting to talk to and as you can see he has a stunning head of hair. (I’m very jealous!)

Poppy is one of my guide dogs in training. Her puppy walkers say "Poppy has developed a funny habit which makes us laugh, if one of us call out to each other in the house, she will go and sit in front of the person as if to ensure they do what they are told!"
It was really amazing how the clouds were changing shape and formation that day, sometimes allowing bursts of Sunrays to escape...

About
Taken at Urangan at Hervey Bay in Queensland, Australia. The Urangan Pier is off to the left of me.
I wanted to get the sunrise over the pier, but time was not my friend, so I had to use what I had in front of me.
It also didn't help that I slept in and missed most of the light. But it was a nice morning.
About Hervey Bay
The first recorded sighting of Hervey Bay was made by James Cook while carrying out his running survey of the east coast of Australia, on the 22 May 1770. “By noon Cook’s ship was in a position a little over half-way across the opening of Hervey Bay heading for Bundaberg. Cook named the bay “Hervey’s Bay” after Augustus John Harvey (1724–1779), later Third Earl of Bristol, a naval officer who became a Lord of the Admiralty the year Endeavour returned”.
Until recent years, Hervey Bay was a string of small townships stretching along the coast, consisting of Point Vernon, Pialba, Torquay, Scarness and Urangan. Until 1990, the towns were serviced by a rail link from the Main North Coast line that diverted from Aldershot and went to Takura, Walligan, Nikenbah then on to Pialba and Urangan. The line was a major freight point for the Port of Maryborough and for the sugar cane industry until road transport assumed the role.

Being guided towards Gate 8 at Burlington International Airport (BTV) is incoming United Airlines flight UA2085 from Washington Dulles (IAD), featuring a Boeing 737-700. This would return to IAD with us on board, the first stage of our return home to TPA.
Ever since UAL had violently bumped a blameless passenger off one of its flights in 2017, to make way for a pilot heading to connect with another UAL flight, United has been on my no-fly list. For this Vermont trip, I had reluctantly chosen UAL for the first time in all these years. The fares were expensive. All flights were on time, gate agents and flight attendants were all very civil, but the seat comfort was abysmal - just 17-inches width, and a seat pitch of a mere 30 inches. Added to which the United Terminal D at Dulles International where we transferred had as much charm as a Greyhound Bus Depot. My wife and (plus the passenger alongside us) rated our flights as a form of torture that we gladly escaped, and we are not obese. We won’t be rushing back to United Airlines.

The c1950 official guide to the small Lancashire town of Mossley - notoriously difficult to date as are many of these official guide or handbooks but some clues in the adverts in this case lean towards this mid-century period. It isn't a large booklet this as Mossley had only a population of some 11,000 and it is situated in the steep valley site of the River Tame in the Pennine Hills to the east of Manchester. The town, like several other adjacent localities, had a complex administrative past as it was, prior to the 1885 creation of the Borough Council and its situation within the old County of Lancashire, situated in three counties - Lancashire, the West Riding of Yorkshire and Cheshire. Under the 1974 local government reorganisation it was annexed into the new Metropolitan Borough of Tameside in Greater Manchester.
The town's prosperity was largely built on textiles, woll but especially cotton and this link with Lancashire is shown in the coat of arms - the red rose of the county and the cotton plant.

A scan from a print, neg long gone, I'm leaving this 'as is', a precious moment in time for me! Harold had a 'special relationship' with one of our foremen regarding horse racing, neither of them managed an early retirement on the strength of it! I miss them all.....
This is man is a guide in the castle. He told so interestingly that I forgot to ask him for a name, which is why I call him a Guide. Guide is passionate about the history and staging of knights' battles in which he often participates.
The picture was taken in the castle armory, the light comes from the windows.

This week's Humble Offering of Humbility is brought to you by I'S BUSY! So here's a Kansas Cityscape. It's a view from the 20th floor of my work. Alas, it's a vantage I'll no longer have as we're moving offices (hence the busyness). So I decided to take you on a little note tour to help spice it up/make it as annoying as possible.
Have a creative non-busy week, everyone!
