Within its imposing walls rests a citadel like no other, incredibly rich in important religious and historical structures. Among its treasures is a library of ancient manuscripts and icons second only to the Vatican's itself, and a 6th century church reputed to lie directly on the site of the Burning Bush. Quite simply, the monastery is a defining feature of the Holy Land.

While traversing between Nagoya and Kyoto, Japan, I came across a small
town with more than a few little walking wooden men. In Japan schools are
expected to aid in making sure their students are safe, even on the way to
school. In this little village, the local school set up a bunch of these
markers so that elementary school students always have a friendly little
guide to direct them in the right direction. These can often be found along
the walking routes to the elementary schools, as unlike here in The States,
almost all students, from the time they become students at a young age,
walk to school alone, even taking buses and trains. This little wooden
guide is a sort of extension of the schools authority over the lives and
passage of their students. Schools go very far out of their way to "look
after" their students. At a young age, this is definitely a good thing,
however once these students reach high school it is very much perceived as
oppressive and strict. In this regard the authority of the school to
dictate what route students will take from their home to the school is
acceptable as they are young and could use the protection. When you are a
senior in high school, however, this is not so easily swallowed. Such
outreach by a high school here in the United States would never be viewed
as acceptable by either the students or the parents.

Btw, I started this project a while back, but then decided to shave all the braze-ons off. So, even though I've got another full can of Montana Honey Yellow for the second coat, I decided to change it. This was a beautiful, warm tone. But blue is more my style.

My workers, even thought they don't have a tv at the construction site, or time to watch it, (cuz they're at work) still wanna know what the hell is going on on cable tv.
My uncle was interested in buying this mill stone in Pocoata, Bolivia. This man guided us through a long path to the old mill house. I asked him if I could take a picture of the millstone and he said yes and then stepped in front of it. I'm really glad he's in the picture now!

We drive from Alta to North Cape (NordKapp) in winter along snow covered roads and in a convoy until we reach the most northerly point in Europe. We then spend the evening in Honningsvag.
We start the day at our Hotel in Alta the Scandic Alta by having breakfast and checking the weather and road forecast for the day ahead.
We set out very early and drive towards the North Cape, the roads were covered in snow and we followed a snow plough for about an hour.
We finally arrived to the road to North Cape (Nordkapp) at 10:40 ready for the convoy at 11:00. In order to drive to the North Cape in winter you need to follow a convoy that departs twice per day, this is to ensure that it is safe and everyone arrives in one piece.
The North Cape is the most northernmost point in Europe and I have wanted to visit it for more than 20 years.
We had a good look around and it was quite windy, in fact the wind blew my camera tripod over breaking my camera lens.
Inside we toured the exhibits and got some lunch.
In total we spend a couple of hours here before driving back to Honningsvag.
At Honningsvag we checked into out hotel the Scandic Bryggen Honningsvag and walked around the town before getting some dinner.
We ended the day with a sauna at our hotel.
