This is another contest design for a casino guide. I did not win but it is a good example of an artistic guide.
The guide supplies the sunglasses, hats and all the gear. The trip starts with casting lessons and then he takes the boys to a nearby lake.

She was a feisty woman -- grew up in a large family. Another tour guide who came after us tried to force her and her followers ahead of us at Oxford. I verbally fought her for a while before our more than adequate tour guide took over. The same thing had happened to a tour group I with with at Versaille in France -- twice! And the other two tour groups who were late went ahead of us, while we waited out in the very hot courtyard with now shade. I was very impressed with the success of our guide at Oxford who wasn't about to be pushed around.
At least I can honestly say I've gone to Oxford. If people misunderstand and think I attended classes here, that's OK.
Oxford is known as the 'city of the dreaming spires' - a term first coined by poet Matthew Arnold in reference to the gentle spires and harmonious architecture of the city's university buildings. The beauty of the city's colleges and riverside setting, literary links and stunning film and TV locations, shops with local character and music and drama ranging from candlelit evensong in college chapels to Shakespeare in the park – these ingredients blend with Oxford's lively mix of restaurants, pubs, theatres and tourist attraction to give this historic city its alluring, vibrant and cosmopolitan buzz.
Oxford’s golden-stone university buildings include some of England’s most impressive architecture, notably the Bodleian Library , a masterpiece of English Gothic, Sir Christopher Wren’s Sheldonian Theatre , and the Radcliffe Camera. Looking at these beautiful buildings, it’s no surprise that Oxford is one of Britain’s Heritage Cities.
The most famous attraction in Oxford is its university. Explore one of Oxford’s grandest colleges – Christ Church Cathedral – founded in 1525. It is home to the city’s famous cathedral and birthplace of Lewis Carroll's famous Alice books. Harry Potter fans will love the Great Hall which provided the model for the hall at Hogwarts.
This guide stoop is dated 1709 and pre-dates the turnpike across this area which was commenced in 1758. Spelling wasn't the strongest talent of the stone mason who prepared the stone. The places named on this ancient sign post are Shafild (Sheffield), Chasterfild (Chesterfield), Hatharsich (Hathersage), Tidswel (Tideswell), Chapil in lee Frith (Chapel en le Frith). Maybe the spellings reflect how the words were pronounced in 1709, however there's a suspicion of dyslexia as the letter N's are all back to front!
It now stands in a boggy area beside a stream. There are no obvious signs of tracks in any direction, let alone to it having been at a cross roads. When the Duke of Rutland purchased the Longshaw Estate in 1826 he started making extensive improvements, including many drainage ditches which will have disturbed old features.
Since 2010 this stone has had a Companion stone pointing towards it, beside the carriageway higher up the meadow.
This part of the original Longshaw Estate is now part of the National Trust's Peak District Estate.
