The master plan was created by BUSarchitektur under the guidance of the architect Laura P. Spinadel. The buildings of the campus are designed by architectural firms from Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and Austria. The dominant element of the campus is the Library & Learning Center, which was planned by Zaha Hadid.

Usually, Secretary is content to simply share some nice, preferably special, funny, thoughtful and ironic pictures with his Flickr friends. But sometimes, like here, there are exceptions.
The Code of Ethics of the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) goes back a code of the former AIEE (American Institute of Electrical Engineers), adopted in 1912, i.e. 110 years ago.
As we know, such a code has hardly ever prevented individuals - actually a great many of them - from behaving unethically to the point of criminality. And so it will be in the future. It would also be a foolish illusion to expect such a document to give clear guidance on how to act in specific situations, including these present difficult and challenging days.
But in view of what engineers have contributed and are contributing to the good, but also to the bad, of this world and its residents, it is good to be part of an association that is not indifferent to these issues and that looks beyond the borders of its own profession.

Of course, this rock formation that my path took me past, in the middle of the forest near Děčín in Bohemian Switzerland, is not "the" altar of nature, but just one of many.
When I wander through the forests or mountains, I always come across places that have a special, almost magical effect.
Sometimes they are such impressive formations. But sometimes it's just a small hill or a tree stump covered in moss.
In such places it is always easy for me to transport myself back to the time when the forests still covered half of Europe and were the home of my ancestors.
I can imagine that on special days or on certain occasions they gathered in places like these to perform religious rituals or just to sit here and seek contact with their ancestors in the light of a small campfire to ask for advice or guidance.
In places like these I regularly spend more time than I need to take a photo and like to use it for a coffee break. And while I'm sitting there, texts like this come to mind.
However, I have never had direct contact with anyone from my ancestry. This may be because my ancestors lived more than 100 km away from here and the local ancestors learned from their parents not to talk to strangers.

Sometimes we all need guidance. This is stone cairn No. 46 showing me the direction to No. 47 (of a total of 140) and a safe way down the mountain. In the background you see a stretcher, that may become handy if the situation demands it.....
This mural on a house in the highlands of Tanzania made me smile. Religious followers seem to forget that their religion is only a belief and is unsupported by any evidence.
Photo taken inside one of the buildings at the Ephrata Cloister. In 1732 Conrad Beissel came to Ephrata seeking a life preparing for union with God at the Second Coming, which he felt would soon occur. He visualized a life characterized by asceticism and prayer. He must have been a powerful presence because by the mid-1700s there were about eighty celibate Brothers and Sisters living here all adopting a simple life of reading the Bible, eating little, and contemplation. When Beissel died, lacking his charisma and guidance, the colony slowly waned. Maintained by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission since 1941.

I like lighthouses. They stand reliably on their place and help to find the right way(direction).
Too bad that we can not easily recognize the human lighthouses in our lifes.

When I am down, and, oh, my soul, so weary
When troubles come, and my heart burdened be
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence
Until you come and sit awhile with me
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains
You raise me up to walk on stormy seas
I am strong when I am on your shoulders
You raise me up to more than I can be
You raise me up to more than I can be
