Little me & my Dad! A fun little photo that goes way back for me. Having another birthday this week and remember good connections to family and simple blessings of life. Be kind, take a few changes, give away some hugs, money and share time with those you cherish. Hang int there.

Children have to grow up so fast these days through no fault of their own.

This is Crawley near Winchester, I grew up. beautiful countryside and a quite little village. Every thing I didn't want as a younger man. But every thing I'd love as an older me, life's funny like that 😊

Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,

The flying cloud, the frosty light;

The year is dying in the night;

Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

Ring out the old, ring in the new,

Ring, happy bells, across the snow:

The year is going, let him go;

Ring out the false, ring in the true.

Recently, some people I know were discussing another person… He’s 70, divorced, and lives on his own. There are “big” silly things that make him happy. He’s bragging to people about those “big” little things that excite him… They say he has the mind of a child. They say he never grew up. They say he has the brain of a dog because dogs always get happy about “big” little things.To start with, I hate discussing people’s personalities when they are not present. And to end, what do people mean when they say to take life seriously?!! To stop and think that this world is full of hunger, wars, deaths, poverty, illnesses & misfortunes. That our bodies fail us till we die. That most of the time love comes with loss & pain in the end. To take life seriously… to change yourself & things around you for the better. Maybe dogs & children are the only ones who get it right! They love and find joy in everything!

Although I had more than enough credits to graduate ( because I switched majors after Freshman Year, with equivalent classes ), they wouldn't give them to me and I was ordered to go a fifth year anyway. I moved on and got my GED later.

This little rascal like so many kids is fascinated by the waves. With parents standing by he is ready to take on the sea and have a blast. Go forth take some risks from time to time. Try some new thing. Oh and yes - for the sake of all wear a mask -keep your distance set a good example.

Cheers

This week's blog is all about a den of red fox that I happened to stumble across. As I mentioned in the blog, fox are in my top 3 subjects to photograph. I mean ... look at this cutie ... can you blame me? LOL

This particular young fox kit was one of at least 4, along with mom. There were 2 in particular that were quite adventurous and came out to play and investigate their surroundings. I was thrilled when this one came out and was so inquisitive. I wondered what it must be thinking. I knew what I was thinking of course ... "OMG so dang cute!".

Over time I continued to see them on occasion, though like most subjects as they grow up, they tend to lose that look of innocence. Well, there's always next year ... and I say ... bring it on! LOL

Happy Sunday! Supposed to go into the 20's tonight/Monday early morning. Maybe, just maybe, we might have a winter this year. :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by to view. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated.

Little Zooey... You did not see her very frequently since she arrived, I know. But she's been up in the clouds almost every day! Time flies by, and even though the day she first arrived does not seem very far away, the truth is that it's actually been long since then.

Long enough for Zooey to grow up! It is known that the color tones in sky children's eyes and hair fluctuate even during the day, depending on what's going on up in the clouds (since their appearance is a kind of mirror reflecting the happenings "above"). But also with age, as they get older and especially into adulthood, the permanent features of their complexion begin to appear. The faint jewel tones in Zooey's hair change all the time (it is in fact obvious if you are patient enough to sit still and watch), but gold and orange shades in her eyes and eyelashes appeared recently. Even her expression became somehow...more serious and concerned.

For us, it feels like a miracle to watch such a special girl growing up and everyone at home feels so lucky to have her with us. But, Zooey does not want to grow up! "It doesn't seem like it's worth it" she put frankly while I took this picture. "I know I won't ever be able to find again the things I'll lose while growing up. So I'm going to play silly games more than ever, perhaps this will stop me from growing up..."

She really seems to worry about this a lot, lately. I guess I have to tell her that it is not the process of growing up that makes you lose some things. If you do your best, you can preserve the little you inside, precious Zooey, And you know what, you will be such a sweet young girl!

This week the blog post features more owls .... especially a number of baby owls ... including this adorable young long-eared owl. Words cannot describe how excited I was to find this one hanging out in the trees as we hiked around the area looking for owls. I mean, come on, look at that sweet face and those big eyes. LOL.

Sadie tried to blow on these dandelions and make wishes lol.

this is a sad face. because i really hate the idea of growing up.

i think i spent most of my early tween years wishing i could hurry up and be all grown up.

now i just wish i was a kid again.

i still act like a kid a lot. i can handle life in a mature way. but i still like to have fun.

..i was once told to "grow the f***ing hell up". honestly. i might have to grow up. i dont really have a choice. but i am not going to ever let go of having childlike moments.

here is to peter pan. the boy who never had to grow up.

as for other news. i made that paper hat. it was the first paper hat i have ever made and i love it.

also my hair is starting to look redder and redder. maybe time to get it re-dyed to something else?

The sprout is now growing up. Young leaves have come out from the sprout.

i love photographing my little brother so much, even though he can be a pain in the butt.

today was my other brothers 16th birthday. for a few moments, i felt what it could be like to be a mom, and to watch your children grow up - they wont always need you, and sometimes they need time and space to grow into themselves. i cant imagine how hard that is. and even though my mom already let me go, i dont think that makes it any easier.

i feel like i will be a terrible mother, because i will love my children so much, ill never ever want to let them go, and ill never want them to know what it feels like to have everything you thought you knew fall down around you (p.s. im fine, that isnt in reference to anything in my life right now. just general).

A snail brings his car to the paint shop and asks the manager, can you paint a huge letter ‘S’ on my car?

-- Yes I can, but why do you want that?

-- the snail reply, “When I drive around, I want people to say ‘Look at this ‘S-car-go' !!!

:)

"My childhood is almost over" she said to me, "I only have a few years of being a kid left". On her 14th birthday she was reflecting on her future and how quickly adulthood was approaching. Jobs and cars and responsibilities...it must have looked daunting and stressful from her view. I held her and reassured her that her life is hers to do as she pleases - she can remain silly and free-spirited, follow her dreams and heart. Life is what you make it, so make it fun and be happy, I tell her.

In the back of my mind I'm reeling from the realization that she really will be a grownup in just a few short years. Part of me wants to keep her little forever, like a living doll. The other part knows that she always will be my baby and that she's already on her way to becoming a fine adult. I tell her it will all be ok, as I soothe us both with my words.

Everyone knows that I absolutely adore owls. Well, how about a western screech owl ... young owlet just a few weeks old! Do they get any cuter?

I was quite thrilled to be able to photograph a few special ones as they were lined up for banding purposes ... then returned promptly to their mamas.

Tom & I had the privilege of eastern screech owls raise their young on our property when living in south Florida ... so I guess this is the next best thing. :-)

Thanks so much for stopping by to view. Was away for a few days and still downloading images. Hope that everyone had a great weekend!

While western Colorado has more than its fair share of sandhill cranes, what we don't get are nesting cranes ... at least not as a rule. Recently, there have been a few reports of nesting sandhill cranes and a few colts, though I haven't been fortunate to see them. So, I'm left to dig through my archives if I want to re-visit that feeling of joy that seeing them evokes. :-)

Few birds, at least for me, are so very special when they're raising their young and that parent-chick interaction and loving bond is one that simply tugs at my heartstrings. In addition, the sibling rivalry between multiple colts is just as endearing ... as they are quite confrontational in the early days, then settle into companionship and love. One day, I will find some more local than Florida ... until then, I smile at these. Hope that you enjoy.

I didn’t intentionally set out to save this for Shark Week but here we are lol. Sadie loves this shark hand puppet from Walmart and she was playing around at the table and I had to snap this of her expression.
