(Flickr Friday: #312 Give peace a chance)
According to the current theme, group members were supposed to take a photo which represents peace. I chose a poppy. This flower was adopted as the symbol of remembrance shortly after the end of the First World War. This is why it served as a pledge (at least initially) that war must never happen again.

A Flower
Have you ever heard
of a flower that never needs
Water, soil, or sunshine?
A flower that stays in full bloom
Through summer and winter
Through good times and bad
A flower that rarely gets smaller,
growing endlessly.
A few lost petals,
A little droop,
but, without a doubt,
it will always regrow
into something more beautiful.
I have one of those.
I call it Love.

To grow different than all the others is no problem. To be the same as all the others is much worse. Don't be another brick in the wall...
Red Wattlebird (Anthochaera carunculata) juvenile
Growing but still calling for Mum or Dad to bring food. You can just see the red wattle starting to develop. This is one from one of the five nests we ended up with in our garden.

This eyas osprey is growing rapidly. It's almost as big as its parent. The other eyas is under the shade of its parent. I took this photo at Lake Sonoma, Sonoma County, CA.
You know what? This lily was growing right alongside of a sidwalk last summer, so how could I not take a photo? )0:
I couldn't help but add an impressionism filter and alter the colours for Sliders Sunday (and to have a bit of fun)! HSS!

Growing up to a bigger bigleaf maple from the forest floor. This maple tree has the largest leaves of any American maple. It's prolific in the Pacific Northwest there its slender trunk supports a huge, spreading crown, typically laden with hanging clubmoss.
