Dans la procession guidée par le cavalier et son écuyer, deux musiciens viennent en tête. L'un frappe avec deux baguettes épaisses et dilatées à l'extrémité sur un long tambour. Nous voyons bien la corde de tension entrelacée sur des cercles et traversant en diagonale la peau pour former le timbre.
Le joueur forme avec son compère une belle paire, presque spéculaire, ils se regardent comme s'ils étaient pris par le même rythme et le même élan, mais pourtant, le deuxième joueur se contente de tenir un long bâton servant peut-être d'appui au tambour. A droite, l'écuyer de Caïphe tient une fleur dans la main droite

As a part of our stargazing sessions, we like to include a live-stack of a deep sky object using EAA for our guests.
While we are out on our back Observing Deck guiding visual observing sessions through 8-9 instruments, we have an imaging session going which we share with our visitors on our 75" TV screen when we come back inside.
This galaxy group consists of the main galaxy NGC 7331, a pure spiral located in the constellation of Pegasus and the four "fleas"; galaxies which appear in the same field of view but are much farther away and not associated with each other gravitationally. While NGC 7331 is about 40 million light years away, the fleas range in distance from 290-370 million light years away, which makes them appear much smaller. The "fleas".. galaxies NGC 7335, NGC 7336, NGC 7337 and NGC 7340 are shown to the left of the primary galaxy.
So what's up with the name? "In the 1980s, amateur astronomer Tom Lorenzin was observing in the mountains of North Carolina, at the Deerlick Gap Overlook. Because his view of NGC 7331 and its surrounding galaxies was so memorable, he christened them the Deer Lick Group."
This is 105 sixty-second images taken with our 26" f/4.8 Newtonian Reflector Telescope and ASI6200MC camera on 9/18/2023.
This stunningly beautiful galaxy group would be fun to get a lot more data on and to shoot in narrowband, but the purpose of this image is to give our guests a connection to the cosmos within the couple of hours they spend with us.

Quiet lakes and wetlands come alive with the breezy whistle of the American Wigeon, a dabbling duck with pizzazz. Breeding males have a green eye patch and a conspicuous white crown, earning them the name "bald plate." Females are brushed in warm browns with a gray-brown head and a smudge around the eye. Noisy groups congregate during fall and winter, plucking plants with their short goose-like bill from wetlands and fields or nibbling plants from the water's surface. Despite being common, their populations are declining. The best time to see American Wigeons in the Lower 48 is from August through April. The oldest American Wigeon reported was at least 21 years and 4 months old. (allaboutbirds.org)
