Found this little guy foraging for nectar around some flowers that hadn't even opened up yet. Looks like it will be good weather for the bees this year. We didn't see many of them last year.

I like the way that on the greyish, colourless winter earth the bright yellow gives the impression that some sort of filter has been used, but it hasn't.
I took this with a 135mm but couldn't get close enough so I used the aps-c mode hence the exif showing 202mm, but with a 135mm f1.8, full frame d.o.f.

The number of Southern Ground-Hornbills outside formally protected areas in South Africa is declining due to loss and transformation of habitat, poisoning, persecution and electrocution. The species is listed as globally Vulnerable and have been uplisted to Endangered in 2014 in South Africa.
It is the largest hornbill species in the world.

On a recent walk, I saw many catkins on the ground, blown off the trees from the wind. I marvel at the beauty of these tiny flowers.
i saw this cone just like this on the pavement and decided to put my camera on the ground with the 2 sec. self timer...
The Hornbill is of two species o Ground Hornbill and is the largest species of Hornbills. The other species of the genus Bucorvus is the Abyssinan Ground Hornbill, B Abyssincus. They are very different looking birds, I saw this one at the Zoo Atlanta.
The lowest place possible is a picture of humbleness. Many possibilities soon await when I except the sercumestances now.
Tulips (Tulipa) form a genus of spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes (having bulbs as storage organs). The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly colored, generally red, pink, yellow, or white (usually in warm colors). They often have a different colored blotch at the base of the tepals (petals and sepals, collectively), internally. Tulips originally were found in a band stretching from Southern Europe to Central Asia, but since the seventeenth century have become widely naturalised and cultivated. Flowering in the spring, they become dormant in the summer once the flowers and leaves die back, emerging above ground as a shoot from the underground bulb in early spring. The tulip's flowers are usually large and are actinomorphic (radially symmetric) and hermaphrodite (contain both male (androecium) and female (gynoecium) characteristics), generally erect, or more rarely pendulous, and are arranged more usually as a single terminal flower, or when pluriflor as two to three (e.g. Tulipa turkestanica), but up to four, flowers on the end of a floriferous stem (scape), which is single arising from amongst the basal leaf rosette. 11717

This golden-mantled ground squirrel was on patrol at Yellowstone looking for food from any human passserby
Went to the nursery the other day and walking into the greenhouse was like walking into August. I don't really approve of planting all those garish late summer colors amid the soft pinks, yellows and lavenders of May but of course I bought lots and lots anyway. And now all those poor plants are still sitting on the patio and freezing their buns off in the cold rain. It might, in fact, be August before I get them in the ground.
(Columbina passerina) Common Ground Doves are tiny doves about the size of a house sparrow. They are stocky, with short legs, and they shuffle as they walk.
