Daffy Duck is Hackney Wicks only entry for the Winter Olympics.

Any medal won will be dedicated to The Griddlers, a cafe casualty of Hackney Wicks economic ghetto.

Have to wait 24 hours before we can put things back on the deck. Surely we'll be nice to have the griddle and grill out of the dining room and back on the deck. Will be nice to have the furniture out of the yard and garage and back on the deck where it can be used.

Exploring Monterey as part of the Bay Area Rediscovery Project, we discovered Loulou's Griddle in the Middle. You seriously cannot fathom how big the pancakes are--they are bigger than the plates! Nor can you understand how nice and welcoming the owners are. While you wait, you can walk along the wharf, where we saw dolphins feasting on anchovies (potentially), leading one local to state that he had never seen anything like that in the 40 years he's lived in Monterey. So that seemed special.

They griddle a bacon wrapped Hot Dog,next to a kinda Hot Chili-Pepper, then in a special "sweet" (also griddled) bun, the layer frijoles and the place the bacon-enrobed-weinie,topped with ketchup, Pico-de-Gallo-and-Mexican "Crema" (Sour Cream)- and it is a big-ol-bite-of-yummiousness.

The griddle has become quite a multi-tasker. It is now my new sandwich press on the grill :). Tonight's menu -- Tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwich. A classic combination and quite satisfying.

In all fairness, I had set off on a 'fishing trip' hoping to catch a 56 on either of the two southbound Colas freight trains, but only managed to catch a 'tiddler'. A 'Griddler' perhaps in modern parlance?!

Really tasty, a bit of mither to make. The Coconut milk pancakes were tricky as they stuck to the griddle. The rest is easy. The mixture would be nice as a veggi pie filling too.

I saw a video on U Tube how to make these.

The lady peels and chops with a machete. She cooks on an open fire. That is skill. I toned the spices down a bit.

Oil to cook

Onion

Cabbage

Peas

Carrots

Leek

Potato (cooked)

Cumin

Salt

Chilli

Pepper

Garlic

Curry Powder

Tumeric

Curry Leaves

Plain flour mixed with Coconut Milk and salt to make a pancake batter.
