GBRf British Railways ‘Grid' Class 56 Co-Co no.56 081 in BR blue livery leads the UK Railtours Leicester-Barrow Hill leg of the ‘Class 56 Farewell’ rail tour through Langley Mill. Classmate no.56 098 was on the rear of the train.

With the perfect light and interesting traction, this was a popular train tonight.

With the pole extended from Delph Lane, 56051 & 56094 power through Keckwick on a beautiful 19th July 2023 evening with 6J37 1252 Carlisle to Chirk log train, conveying 1252 tonnes on its IWA wagons. The pair have been on this train for a good week or two now - much better than the usual class 70.

Before heading out for the Mersey Weaver Tour on Saturday, a quick visit to Sutton Bridge Junction, Shrewsbury was in order to see a couple of ROG Grids working the refurbed stock from another First GWR HST.

56098 with 56301 tucked inside did the honours with 5V56, Kilmarnock to Laira via The Marches, in the early morning half light. Saturday 30.1.16
