Here's a white rose with hints of green, seen in a 60-frame focus stack. I'm using green sequined fabric for the backdrop, and I'm shining a hand-held LED panel lamp above the flower. By coincidence, I'm watching the world-champion Celtics, who wear green and white uniforms.

"Going Green"

I have been trying to capture this for a few years now. Getting a suitable window seat is mandatory of course. But the rest depends on flight path and the intensity of the solar wind on the Earth's magnetic field. In the early hours of this morning on the Emirates Dubai to DFW flight somewhere high above the clouds over Greenland finally the magic happened.

I was seated next to the wing and the bright light at the end of it made it hard to see the Northern Lights with the naked eye. There was some hint of it however. To make sure I won't miss out on it, I was taking periodic test shots in between my dozing spells. Finally I saw a faint occurrence of Aurora beginning to develop.

Over the next hour or so before the ghostly Northern Lights disappeared, I shot a lot of pictures mostly hand held and a few with the camera on a Joby GorillaPod 5K fashioned like a monopod resting on the armrest. To minimize stray cabin light, I used a Lenskirt. A vast majority of the shots were useless given the turbulence and the bright lights on the wing or the cabin lights. But it was a good practice session for another time. Hope you like it..

Green weevil

green weevils use their long “snout” (rostrum) like a tiny drill—boring into a leaf vein, carving out a perfect little chamber, laying one egg inside, then sealing it up with a special glue so the larva is safe and has its first meal ready!”

Out of the flickr today for a special reason. My pseudo.sister-in-law is having twins (Carolina and Helena). Today is their baby-shower...Look what we've got to them...Colourful little shoes. Adorable!!!!

Green Park (officially The Green Park) is one of the Royal Parks of London.

Walking through here was just beautiful.....

Covering 19 hectares (47 acres), it lies between London's Hyde Park and St. James's Park. Together with Kensington Gardens and the gardens of Buckingham Palace, these parks form an almost unbroken stretch of open land reaching from Whitehall and Victoria station to Kensington and Notting Hill.

Snowqualls by the hour and gusty winds made this day a challenge, but hey, the lighting comes at a price...

The flight feathers of the Green Kingfisher are spotted white which distinguishes it from the larger Amazon Kingfisher. The male also has green spotting on its flanks. Only the male of this species has a rufous breast.

Retira-me do cerco em que me encontro,

para que eu renda graças ao teu nome!

Virão então os justos rodear-me,

Green Skimmer (Orthetrum sabina) Very common insect of plains and submontane regions of the country. Usually encountered in weedy edges of tanks, irrigation channels, paddy fields and perennial and seasonal ponds where it breeds. Both male and female are similar in shape and color. The extraordinary swollen abdomen of this dragonfly is remarkable and a useful identification feature of it. . (biodiversityofsrilanka.blogspot.com)

Surprise visitor

Taken through my window

The African Green Pigeon is a small to medium-sized bird that measures around 23-28 cm in length.

It has a distinctive green plumage with a yellowish-green head and neck, and a bright red bill.

The wings and tail are dark brown or black, and the eyes are surrounded by a bright red eye-ring.

The male and female have similar plumage, but the male has a slightly larger bill.

They are found in forests and woodlands across sub-Saharan Africa, and feed on fruits and seeds.

They are known for their soft cooing calls and are often seen in small flocks.

Autumn is the time of year when I look up from the small stuff the most. Can you blame me?

Now spring has clad the grove in green,

And strew'd the lea wi' flowers;

The furrow'd, waving corn is seen

Rejoice in fostering showers:

While ilka thing in nature join

Their sorrows to forego,

O why thus all alone are mine

The weary steps of woe?
