I only had a few seconds to admire this handsome drake before he spooked. You can see some of his namesake color in the wing even in this position!
This Green Orb Weaver was taking shelter under the leaf of a pear tree during moderate winds. It had built a small scruffy web which it kept returning to every so often to see if there was any prey around. The winds and having to invert my camera to get the shot were becoming quite frustrating! Taken on my D300 with a reversed Pentax 50mm lens with diffused flash.

The green kingfisher is a resident breeding bird which occurs from southern Texas in the United States south through Central and South America to central Argentina. This small kingfisher breeds by streams in forests or mangroves. The nest is in a horizontal tunnel which is dug by both sexes.
This one was photographed in Brazil guided by Neotropic Photo Tours.
I was much too far away when this male green kingfisher perched on a round chunk of concrete that was deposited in the river bed from a previous flood. Anyway I had to snap a picture. The water reflected the kingfisher but also the autumn leaves from nearby trees and blue from the sky.

1971 Dodge Demon... 340 cubic inches of twisted Dart/Duster/Valiant Mopar muscle in "Green-Go." Fun fact: one of the first vehicles to include a cassette player!

the sea impeaches sound
for its leaning shadows, its green poppies.
- from "Barcarole" by Pablo Neruda
Not sure if this some kind of anemone or some type of coral but I shot it through glass and a mob of mothers and grandmothers swarming all over this magical corner in the aquarium at the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks.
The last of two shots from that magical pack of 779 that expired in 1999.
